Very bizarre. The image and accompanying text refer to the airplane, however the form beneath it refers to a on-bedroom flat (that said, I'm sure IO540 will be around in a minute telling us that a TB20 can, in fact, be used as a one-bedroom flat ).

I suggest you give the lawyer whose phone no is at the bottom of the page (preface it with 0049 and drop the leading zero) a call to find out.

PS: the text says nothing about condition of the a/c.

heres a rough translation - some of it a bit literal! In summary, its in below average condition with no engine!

Object description of the auction: Socata TB of 20 the firm Socata Groupe Spartiale, Tarbes Cedex, France, with the tail number D EUFD.

The examination of the aircraft took place on the traffic landing field Speyer.

The airplane, model 2000, is a single-engine, viersitziger entire metal Tiefdecker with retractable undercarriage. It is a top model in the single-engine Socata range with piston motor that is used mainly as a fast trip airplane however also for the training of instrument flight.

With a take-off weight of maximally 1400 kg and an average deadweight (dependent on the incorporated equipment) of 800 kg, an additional load of ca. arises. 600 kg. In maximal fuel quantity, the range is about ca. 1100 NM (ca. 2030 km). Under ICAO - standard conditions (temperature: + 15° C; air pressure: 1013.2 hPa; sea height) a start stretch of ca. arises. 2000 ft (610 ms) (over flight of a 15 m of high hindrance), the country stretch amounts to ca. 1750 ft (535 ms). The trip speed is about about 160 kt (ca.300 km/h), the service summit height is indicated with 20,000 ft (6100 ms). Equipment - engine: Lycoming IO-540 C4D5D, work Nr. : unknown, TBO: 2,000 Std., remainder running time: unknown, change in cell time (entirely) : 4,371 Std. - Propeller: Hartcell HC-C2YK1BF/F8477, work Nr. A58931, TBO: 2,000 Std./72 months, remainder running time: 1628 Std./14 months, change in cell time (entirely) : 3,999
Std and/or 03.09.2010.

In the aircraft, there is a corresponding equipment for the business under instrument flight conditions, however the available transponder is allowed for the official business no longer. One can assume data missing on the basis that the regular business ended middle and/or in the second half 2005 and that from 2005 no year check as well as corresponding maintenance inspection were carried out more.

The aircraft was used as a school airplane and has an above average entire business time. It is in a below average condition. The original engine expired and no longer available, a new engine must be installed. Moreover considerable expenditures for the restoration of the air ability as well as the improvement of the momentary condition is necessary. Situation description no statement

I have never tested mine in a "bedroom" mode, so couldn't comment

The text is meaningless - straight out of some sales brochure. Clicking on the image doesn't do anything for me.

Anyway, S/N 2019 is listed here. It is an early TB20GT. What it is worth depends on the equipment. Is the Euro 65k the asking price?

Googling on the tail number digs out the usual stuff e.g. this. Googling on

Socata TB20

etc also digs out general info.

If everything firewall forward is missing, you are looking at Euro 60-100k to finish it. That is quite a lot since you can buy a complete and very nice TB20GT from say 2002 for Euro 170k or so. And the early GTs (at a guess, 2000-2050) came with somewhat odd avionics configurations, presumably because Socata were trying to use up old stock.

But it could cost much more - presumably the engine didn't just fall off and go missing....

Could be worth something if broken up for parts. Things like the doors, the roof, etc can be "priceless".

Quite right, today in the industry there are more cowboys than a John wayne movie.

It's nothing more than a TB20GT, with engine and other bits missing.

It has a certain break-up value - probably about £50k - but expect it to take years to sell everything.

Being an ex training plane, you can bet on minimal maintenance Also you can bet on some dodgy avionics, the sort of thing which an IFR owner would never tolerate at this price level. OTOH there is a limit to how badly wrecked a 9 year old aluminium airframe can possibly be.

As a rebuild project, it would be a job for somebody seriously knowledgeable on the type, due to the potential for little gotchas. The "problem" is that you can buy a mint 2002 (the latest one made) TB20GT for about £150k (give or take, according to equipment like TKS etc) and that puts an upper limit on how much you would want to spend on rebuilding this one. It would be an interesting project, rebuilding this with say a Garmin 500 and all other new stuff would improve the economics, but it would take a year or more and you would need a hangar to work in in the meantime.

I'm with you IO540......

And then of course you would still need to find a buyer unless you wanted it for yourself but as you say you can probably buy similar airworthy example for a lot less. It also begs the question what happened to the engine; which would a least have some core value (perhaps)?

Yes I think the story behind the missing engine would be most definitely worth establishing At a stretch it might be something charitable like they sent it for an OH to some cowboy who ran off with it...

I also see the belly panels are missing, which is bizzare.

Re what to do with it, I was not thinking of selling the finished thing. One would never make a profit. For an an owner though, it would make sense because if you rebuild a plane in that way, you know what is in it and you are not inheriting some can of worms. Many if not most people sell a plane because they are fed up with regular issues causing downtime and hassle.

And if one wanted a major avionics refit (I mean well into 5 digits) it makes more sense to do it on a wreck (but whose metalwork is in good condition) than on a plane which already contains a load of good avionics which will need to be ripped out and which will never sell at a meaningful price. The other reason it makes sense is because the job will take months - even if you can find an avionics shop which can spell "project management" which is a rarity.

A TB20GT is an excellent and for the most part very well engineered long range tourer - even if I am biased

Question for the TB20 drivers:

I know you can move the back of the front seats to allow acces to the rear, but can you incline/decline the back of the seat so as to change your own sitting position (pilot/front seat pax) ? This would allow to get some extra headroom.

No.

> get some extra headroom

There is an approved mod to lower the pilots seat for this purpose.
