Re the F1-11 in the pic, I don't recall ever seeing a nose cone so shiny as I thought those cones were a raw carbon fibre. That one looks like glass (as in perfectly painted etc). Perhaps they restored the nose...

Ultralights 4th May 2014 22:01

the F111 nose cone is made from uni directional fibreglass, covered in a rubberised black paint.

Sabre 352 belongs to Jeff Trapett and is a new restoration

There is a youtube video of the landing:

The comments imply it burst a tyre.

Reminds me of that line from the Battle of Britain:
"Boomps-a-daisy. It's enough to make you weep."

Here is the hornet cross wind departure.

VH-XXX 5th May 2014 03:42

Hornet 2 certainly pulled off a graceful take-off in comparison!

Jabawocky 5th May 2014 08:23

Coz if it had not it was in the weeds :}

Them Horneto's are not ya typical taildragger ya know! :ok:

gerry111 5th May 2014 08:40

Yeh, I reckon those 'Grumpy Monkeys' were "bunging it on" just a bit....

But as always, "77 Sqn does it best."

gerry111 5th May 2014 08:47

Clinton, Mirage A3-42 is probably the closest to do that in private hands. But I think that the project has sadly stalled due to the cost and complexity. Perhaps try searching "friends of mirage a3-42"?

Having a look at the brand new Cessna Caravan EX on floats. For those who don't know it is the first time Cessna has offered a Grand Caravan body on floats!

A man should have one of those Pianoman !

TOUCH-AND-GO 6th May 2014 22:11

A man should have one of those Pianoman !
At a hefty cost though.! :{

Piano Man 7th May 2014 05:22

Yours for 3 million plus options. Jury is still out whether the short body is worth it or not! And for $500k saving (bare in mind this is a float pilot speaking).

Piano Man 8th May 2014 02:44

Some older beauties!
