Hi Guys,

I have recently been advised by REX that I have the opportunity of the first interview in Wagga Wagga next month. I hold a PPL and was wandering if the interview will be mainly aircraft theory technical questions (given my involvement in aviation already)? Other tips on what will be in the interview much appreciated also.

Cheers.

Does anyone know how long the interview in Wagga Wagga goes for? And how long after the interview do you find out about the flight screening, and how long does that go for?

Sorry for the million questions, thanks in advance.

Does anyone know any professional coaching company that teaches you how to write these letters and how much?:E

I heard that right now there are 7 cadets training in Wagga, 7 instructors employed and even more aeroplanes.

Also, the only get co-pilot instrument ratings.

Anyone confirm this?

REX cadetship

Hi guys,

First time poster, sorry if this has been covered in the thread already.

I've just been invited to attend a second interview at AAPA in Wagga for the REX cadet scheme. In my first interview, I asked whether there was the ability to get into the left hand seat. They said yes, and it takes around 5 years (out of the 7 you must commit to REX once your training is up).

Now for my questions...once again, sorry if it's been covered already.

1) Has anyone sat the 2nd interview before? If so, what can I expect?
2) I've seen people mentioning "motivation letters" as part of the process. What exactly are these?

Any help would be much appreciated. And I'm happy to answer any questions anyone might have regarding the first interview/sim test/WOMBAT test and what to expect. Thanks! :ok:

Anyone know what is happening with Rex at the moment? I did my first interview almost three weeks ago and no decision has been made yet.

cadetpilot1 12th Aug 2014 02:37

whitham89,

1. The second interview is similar to the first interview but with executives. It involves around you being loyal to the company. You have to demonstrate not just your ambitions of flying but what you can bring to the company.

2. The motivation letters are used by REX to gauge whether you fit their selection criteria through written language. These letters are usually very personal.

Aviator95,
REX is currently finalising the numbers for REX017, you should hear back soon. Also, recent changes in management has changed the entire recruitment process of the RECP program.

Does REX take in a significant number of Direct Entry FO's or do the majority of their FO's come from their cadet scheme?

cadetpilot1 23rd Aug 2014 23:28

Majority come from the cadetship, REX has an abundant amount of F/Os, need more captains..

Mail-man 24th Aug 2014 07:16

Perhaps they would have more Captains if they hired DE....

Perhaps they would have more Captains if they hired DE....

They have in the past

KRUSTY 34 24th Aug 2014 19:47

There aren't enough "snags" to discourage DE F/O's from leaving if something better comes up.

Incredibly, it's what all this is truly about!

I'm on the same boat - are the people waiting to hear back from REX for REX017 had their second interview?

Aviator95 3rd Sep 2014 08:58

Finally got on to Rex to hear that I'm not through to the next stage :(. vjnr, maybe give them a call yourself to find out

REX 018

Hi guys has anyone put their application in for REX018?

My application was submitted a few weeks back. Was wondering if anyone has heard back, or in previous rounds how long it took to receive a response from Rex.

Cheers

REX018

Hey mate.
I hear they are still in the process of selecting candidates. Rex 017 are only 5 weeks in so I don't think 18 candidates will hear back until after Christmas.

Rex Loans

Hi
From the Rex Cadet frequently asked question guide it notes "3 different loan schemes that allow the cadet to finance the $80,000 fee. This will be fully explained when the cadet is offered a place".
Does anyone have an insight to these types of loans?

One more question, if you can help.?
If the cadet leaves before seven years the loan balance and ACCURED INTEREST shall be paid. Any idea what what the interest rate is?
Many thanks
Crikeys

Good question to ask them at the interview. Ask them to put it in writing though. :}
