Krusty the questions were answered correctly. Where you failed, was reading the question that was answered as your narrow minded negativity towards REX made you blind.

Is there any that exhibit the required skills and hour requirements at present to enable a jump across to the L/H seat?

6 (the ones i can think of) are already Online in the LHS. Maybe a few more.
REX or PELAIR was not stipulated. So again your are wrong. Be it REX or PELAIR they still go through the same procedure to gain LHS. Thus they have acquired the necessary skills etc as STIPULATED in the Q.

Total number of upgradeable F/O's left, 2-3!
Your source is incorrect. FACT!

Anyone with any info on how the European recruitment drive transpired?

Went well from what I hear.
Answered. It did go well, from what I hear. The question didn't say, will those coming over fix our Capt number problems? If that were the question I would agree. It does not fix the problem, but it reduces the impact of those that have left recently. Even you cannot deny that.

...that no less than 5 of those Pelair Captains (whom I can think of at the moment) have moved on to bigger and better things!!!
2 to Cathay, 1 to Aust. Air Express... the other 2 Krusty? Care to elaborate? The Other you speak of was not technically a REX Cadet.

Soar2384 7th May 2013 01:51

Actually SUC Rex was stipulated...

How are the cadets progressing at Rex?

KRUSTY 34 7th May 2013 02:38

Pelair/REX, in context it does matter. REX have a chronic crewing shortage. Pelair does not!

As far as the overseas recruitment drive is concerned. Finger in the dyke! If you feel that is an acceptable strategy, then I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

Upgradeable F/O's? The poster remarked that rumour has it not too many. Your response was "Not true". What's your definition of not too many then. As for the 4-5 above the 2-3 with standing bids, they're only upgradeable if they choose to be!

Look SUC, semantics aside, I'm not particularly interested in a p!ssing contest. You did answer the posters questions, albeit with a generous sprinkling of thumbs up optimism. Fine that's your perception, but given the gravity of the problems with crewing at REX, I'll take "blind negativity" (hard learnt reality), over what appears to be a lemming like faith in a system that has no signs of delivering on it's promises!

Happy trails!

chickoroll 7th May 2013 04:49

Still flying the line at REX waiting for things to improve hey Krusty, poor you.

KRUSTY 34 7th May 2013 07:16

My God! It's ChicoTROLL!

Regional Express Adelaide

Can anyone give me a frank appraisal of what it is like to work at Rex? Happy with the conditons? Pay, roster? I'm looking for a change....:bored:

Cactusjack 7th May 2013 13:06

They don't tolerate arsing about, but if you are prepared to put your head down and bum up and 'take everything on offer' then you will probably enjoy yourself.
Interviews are quite pleasant, a lot to 'take in' however just relax and 'swallow all they give you' and you will do fine. As you 'head' further into the interview process there is an oral assessment, but again if you put on your thinking cap and 'ingest' as much as you can I am sure you will walk away fully satisfied with your 'hard' work. Another well 'received' applicant skill is experience in the 'outback', the 'red centre' comes to mind, and I know a few pilots who have worked all around the pacific 'rim'.
'Pull' yourself together, relax and breathe deep and you will 'slide in' no doubt and 'earn those wings' in no time.

Good luck happybottom.

Wizofoz 7th May 2013 15:08

Was there some "Inuendo" in that, Cactus?

Stiff Under Carriage 7th May 2013 19:51

Search!!!! There a 35 odd page REX thread on the Question Forum where this should be?

KRUSTY 34 7th May 2013 21:30

I think the question alluded to the Adelaide base as well.

One of the better lifestyles (if you're an F/O!), or so I have been told. The flying is reasonably varied, albeit limited.

Best of luck, good advice from Cactas'.

Does anyone know what the current hiring status is for DE FO's?:ugh:

Thanks

JulietKilo13 26th Nov 2013 11:39

Probably not hiring. Because of the cadetship they've got FO's coming out their ears and not enough captains. If you think you're close to an upgrade then maybe, but otherwise, you'll have to wait until some of the FO's get their upgrade.

Rhino91 7th Mar 2014 05:46

I want the truth

Could someone please answer the following four questions;

1. how many cadets have been hired since the programs inception?

2. how many of those cadets have dropped out?

3. how many cadets have been upgraded to captain (with rex or any of its subsidiaries)?

4. how many cadets have moved onto jets?

thanks

smiling monkey 9th Mar 2014 03:52

do you recommend the book 'ace the technical pilot interview 2nd edition' by Gary Bristow?
If you're short of dunny paper, yes, for sure!

Good luck with the interview, but I suggest, not wasting your money with that book. (Google is your friend).

Wizofoz 9th Mar 2014 03:52

No- it's FULL of errors and terrible explanations of things.

Curtis Burgess 6th Apr 2014 00:48

Was just wondering if the cadets that have passed have been able to get command hours? and if they then have been able to transition to jets once the 7 years has passed?
also how much do cadets get paid once they have completed the course?

just trying to work out if it is worth all the money and to not get stuck as F/O that cant get command hours

wishiwasupthere 7th Apr 2014 00:32

Overall, I think the REX cadet pilot program is great.
Based on what experience, your flight screening that you posted about 3 days ago?? :ugh:

tmpffisch 7th Apr 2014 00:48

I swear this forum, regardless of being anonymous, should make us disclose our credentials and experience on every post. At least AlanDo managed to do it within the same thread.

SpeedyFly 7th Apr 2014 01:17

AlanDo,

Please do post back after your final interview and let me know if you are still as enthusiastic about the program,
The last stage is quite personal and parts of it I found quite threatening in how they detail the consequences of not fulfilling the contract, they will ruin your life, its disgraceful what they expect you to sign up to , but hey, 17 years old, minimal life experience, probably what they are looking for.

Curtis Burgess 7th Apr 2014 07:33

thanks for the very informative reply alando, not meaning to be rude but is your response correct information or an educated guess? but otherwise thank you very much for the response
