VH-XGN

Man, it is fun to see what pops up in here!

I last flew XGN on 25 March 1990. Did a run picking up ballot boxes after a State (I think) election. YBTL-YIGM-YGNV-YKID-YEIN-YFSA-YBMA-YBTL

Landed at YIGM with the airstrip completely surrounded by floodwater. No ballot boxes to pick up there!

Had a bird strike taking off from YIGM - thwack! Flew to Greenvale with the gear down - only sign was blood, guts and a few feathers on the retractable step!

Last I heard of XGN it was sitting on a station strip south of Hughenden - with its tail in the air - and a collapsed nose wheel.

Good to see the old girl again!

For your number 3, the one with XGN in it, it could be a number of outback SA or Qld strips. I'll go for Innamincka Homestead YINN (the strip 3 miles north of town, not the townsite strip).

GetOffMyBack 11th Apr 2007 13:12

Wasn't VH-XGN at Air Ngukurr?

Jawz 11th Apr 2007 23:09

Capt Fathom,

1. Yes good ol Nadi Intl'
2. Close, "Vatulele" south of Viti Levu
3. I think it was "Alroy Downs" but can anyone confirm this for my photo collection?

Bentleg - Nope not YINN

Getoffmyback - Yes Air Ngukurr it was. (Glad thats over !!:ugh: )

Good old MZV. Thats what happens when you pull both the mixtures on base, lucky it was low tide, no names now!.:ugh:
Amazing how quick both those engines got pulled off in order for it to be lifted.
Where is MZV now? still in DN?

Pinky the pilot 15th Apr 2007 07:42

Jawz; Would number 3 be at Mungerannie before the strip had major work done on it?

Cloud Basher 15th Apr 2007 09:56

Ultralights,
1. Looks like a Saddler Vampire wing.
2. Somewhere south of Sydney heading West?

Cheers
CB

Edited to ask:

Bentleg,
IS that VH-CGN on the previous page? If so I have about 60 hours in that sucker, flying up the east coast, across to Dawin, down the centre and back to Sydney.

Cheers
CB

Sure is. Taken late 2001 on a similar trip but in the reverse direction.

A Lear 31 over Manhattan.

Was that you flying or a friends photo? Nice pic anyway.
(Could also be a Lear 28 or 29 if you are not posing an obvious question to the un-Lear-educated masses).

Cheers dude.
Bill.
