Looks like an encoding altimeter to me!

Dr :8

j3pipercub 13th Nov 2008 05:19

:D Nice one! But can you guess what the aircraft type is looking at the periphery?

goin'flyin 13th Nov 2008 05:24

Looks like the mighty Cessna Caravan. Hope you were sucking on the gas at the time.

Jabawocky 13th Nov 2008 05:34

The good old Campervan at FL150 ?

j3pipercub 13th Nov 2008 05:36

Sucking the gas and freezing my ar5e off (-22). 3am at the time, and kept the bleed off so it didn't get nice and warm and cosy and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sarcs 13th Nov 2008 05:42

Yeah definitely the Van, I used to think the Caravan's instrumentation was the bees knees, these days it looks quite antiquated! What were you doing at FL150? Meat bombing maybe?

You guys are too quick!

-22!! What neck of the woods do you operate in? Where I am you would be lucky to be at the freezing level at that height! Was that temp SAT or TAT? If I remember properly you could read True Air temp off the Shadin ECTM.

chimbu warrior 13th Nov 2008 05:59

Meat bombing...............pretty unlikely at 3am (although those organic lawn darts are an odd bunch).

More likely delivering the newspaper you read this morning.

Hey Wandering Dave, The Grumman is over at Wangoolba, good fun just stooging around the bay on days off.

Not much to work off, but any guesses on where?

Jabawocky 13th Nov 2008 08:00

Campervan on Kayaks!:}

AussieNick 13th Nov 2008 08:27

lol jaba.

gotta be a 208

VH-XXX 13th Nov 2008 08:29

My local meat-bombers were up jumping till 1am recently. 3am not out of the question although they would normally be too stoned by then.

YBMK Tower 13th Nov 2008 08:42

Rose bay, SY Harbour

goin'flyin 13th Nov 2008 09:12

Van on floats is correct (fantastic bird it was), as is Rosebay.

How about the others above? Any guesses.

Peter Fanelli 13th Nov 2008 09:49

Nice to see ERO looking so good, I got my Restricted Private in her back in October 1979.
Last time I flew her was Dec 28 1979.

Wanderin_dave 13th Nov 2008 10:50

G'day J3, didn't think it looked like Hervey Bay, but it's been a while so things have might have changed. Knowing Gary and watchin' him return her to the air, i bet ERO flies like an absolute dream.

3am in a Campervan hey J3? You gotta be Gordo then, right?

iamafish 13th Nov 2008 20:40

Not unless there are two of us....

j3pipercub 13th Nov 2008 23:08

I am your clone gordo!!! The evil one!!!!!

Dave, yeah the little beast flies very nicely, getting back into something like that from a van the previous day certainly teaches you humility and flare height, think i used close to 900m, 750 of that was flare and baloon :} Gaz is a great bloke and a perfectionist in his work, and it is reflected in the way it flies.

And Goinflying, would have to be a 12, but not sure where...
