Which in turn made me remember of some of the other stories of incidents of general mayhem comitted by Talair/Douglas/any other company in PNG/ Pilots.:D :E

I can remember the time when taking my newly acquired S&W Pistol to the Firearms Dept. to be registered and was told by the Officer doing the paperwork that I would not be (legally) able to also use it as part of my survival (read personal protection) gear. When I asked why not he told me that.....'not so long ago it was permitted but then one day some Talair Pilots were very naughty and started having target practice from a balcony of one of their houses.':=

The story got very interesting after that!:ok: How I managed to keep a straight face and not start ******* myself laughing is something I still wonder about!:E

From what I hear all new applicants will be Moresby based..and no more tours contracts either apparently...an interesting reversal...forget the BNE, CNS basings for the time being.

Aussie 02; This is the only one I have scanned at present; there may be one or two more in my album but here is a piccy taken about 16 years ago of two expensive pieces of scrap metal on the tarmac outside the Douglas Airways offices at Jackson Field.

Has anyone who recently had an interview in Sydney or Port Moresby been offered jobs yet ?
From the number of pilots they require,I figure they will have to put a few guys on hold,as they simply haven't got enough training captains.

Hello Duck Pilot,
I know of 2 guys who interviewed and did the Sim in Sydney were given contracts but no start dates. Some were also called to say they were through the selection process and would be offered a start but have recieved nothing since.

I believe the official word from ANG is that they are " reviewing the recruitment process".

I guess it's hurry up and wait!

I have a couple of good mates that have just been offered jobs with PX. They are both high PNG time pilots currently employed by other operators in country. Having current licences would also help now days as new/old comers have to go through the whole licence procces due to the new rules. From what I can gather, they give the national pilots first preferance at the positions, then fill the remaining places with expats.

What you say does'nt surprise me. I'd heard about the new licences too. By the sound of it unless your either a National or already up there, there is little chance of success.

The first batch of locals have started training :ooh:
