2 years ago they called guys before Xmas for the Feb start. Imagine they'd do it again. A small Chrissy present. Good luck to everyone who is waiting.

Well that's it for the year boys and girls. Just got an email no new courses till 2nd quarter of 2013. Have a safe and festive season and I'll see you all next year.

Probably a course in March but filled by internal applicants.

Judging by that email it sounds like the wait could be quite lengthy... only a small intake in Q2 2013 so it could easily be another 12 months??

Why is everyone shocked to hear no courses until the 2nd QTR of next year. Back in September I said the courses would start in April 2012 (2nd QTR of the year).

Plans still call for 40 new Ejet FO's so there will be at least 4 courses in the April - September period. No plans for external 737 courses.

Hey GAFA

With the 40 new slots on E-190 any of those be new external guys or all off hold file and internal? Been trying for Virgin for ages and had no luck at all.. 2013 should still see some movement right ?

Sounds like a bit of movement for the guys on the hold file at least. I've been waiting a few years now just to get an interview and am starting to think they're not interested. I was never chasing the first shiny jet but rather holding out for the company I wanted to work for. Am I the only one? Not ready to throw in the towel yet but with J* and Tiger hiring I'd feel a bit foolish to wait for something that never comes.

Pilotbc,

Not the only one mate. I've had an app in for years and still nothing. I think it's time to throw the towel in and apply elsewhere. It's a shame for people in our positions who have held out for so long to get the "company" they want rather than the "aircraft". Good luck to all those on the hold file

Recruitment kicking off this month?? Any word?

I thought I wasn't getting a look as I never flown >5,700kg command, yet I have over 1,000 hours jet. Word has it, >1,500 hours jet gets their attention if you've never had a command on a Saab/Dash category etc.

AND may it be a happy NY to all!

I think stop looking into it! I didn't have a huge amount of time, or experience and managed to get an interview. I think its a huge amount of luck! Good luck to you all.. Is JQ really that bad?!

Do people still think that V is waiting on the new EBA to be sorted before recruitment picks up??

Don't think so - it didn't stop them starting a course for early this year for the E-Jet. I think they just wait for the course start date minus x no. of weeks for notice, then they pick up the phone.

I'd be going to tiger.

Maybe not under JB, but the next beancounter will put the capital where they get the best return on investment (on an excel spreadsheet).

That'll be Tiger with it's cheaper cost base.

Enjoy!

I hear from an inside source that they will be re-interviewing some or all of the people on the hold file.

This was also loosely mentioned in the email sent last year when they mentioned that "the passage of time may necessitate the need for further assessment activities" etc etc

Can anyone explain why they might take that route?

If you quit your job when you got on the hold file and haven't flown since, expect to do another sim to make sure you're competent.

Can't say they'd require it if you are still current and working.

However it is the HR types, so you never know. I also believe interview results are only valid for 12 months.

Do you work at VA Green Goblin? They can fly me up to Brissy for a re-test if they so desire, but surely they can't expect people to be heading up there for laughs just to sit on a hold file for another 12 months.

Really. Who in their right mind would do this? Surley no one would resign from their job until they had a signed letter of offer and a contract.
