Virgin Blue hiring
"VARA ATR to integrate early 2015"
Really? Well that would be news to both the AFAP and VIPA, who are looking at an earlier date.
Also, There are 5 VARA FO's that are due to join VAI on the 777 as Cruisers.

Grats the those VARA pilots.
I heard another bunch of S/O's are being promoted back to Domestic just recently. Does anyone know if they plan to take anyone for Int. Hold pool?

Hiring should start again in the first quarter of next year. They should be contacting candidates for courses and start dates in November/December. Most likely will be E190 and 777 positions. VARA pilots will be able to apply also, however they will more than likely be taking external applicants in order to reduce the amount of training required.
Good luck, and remember when you get in be prepared to be going through about 15 years worth of 3 bars on your shoulders. If you complain within that timeframe, don't even bother joining

There are two important changes coming to the VARA operation over the next 6 months. Firstly is the integration of the VARA pilot list into the VAA/VAI/VANZ, to create one group DOJ pilot list.
The second is the transfer of the ATR operation from the VARA AOC to the VAA AOC. Once this is completed it will change (again) recruitment and career progression.

Not sure where you are getting your facts from westboundflyer but there are some definite errors there.
Firstly for course 4 to be starting, there would generally have to be a course 3. Unfortunately course 3 never came to fruition and is indefinitely on hold.
Also the current batch of cadets will not be joining in November. They finish mid December for a start early next year.

I was under the impression the integration model for VARA saw them effectively go to the bottom of the GDOJ list for movement into the mainline operation, however maintain seniority for promotion within their own system?

I was lead to believe cadets were on a 3 year VARA contract, then let loose just like every other pilot? If they wanted to move onto jets, it would be via the same pathway as everyone else.

You all need to take what's written in this thread with a grain of salt. There's still a lot to play out, and the posters above who think they know it all actually don't. Flight deck or T&C meeting gossip isn't fact. There are a lot of half-truths in the above posts - the next 6-12 months will reveal all. Just don't pin your hopes on what some anonymous poster writes.

So true. All I can say is that we are still officially on hold and therefore still have a chance. HR hasn't indicated closing the hold during any of the discussions I have had and I specifically asked about it, so they could have done it already. I'll pretend that is good news for the time being

atlas (or others) how often have you been in contact with Recruitment?
Aside from updating the hours & resume on the recruitment portal I haven't initiated any contact for probably close to a year. (Originally domestic hold, took option to be on VAI hold as well)

Like atlas I too have been in contact recently. My last conversation with hr would have been about 3 weeks ago. At that point in time still very vague. I suspect now hr like most pilots even in vai are the last to hear or know unfortunately. As said least still on hold....could be a hell of a lot worse...eg I know guys still trying to land their first job after hunting for last 9 yrs...and look at qf layoffs...least we still have a job
