Is there a limit to how long you are on the hold file? I know there is nothing is stone, but in another year are they going to say thanks for applying but 2 years is long enough, please reapply.. I hope this isn't the case but i can't see it going any other way.

Cheers

At the moment I don't believe there is a hold file limit.
If you are presently on the hold file, then until such time as you are told that is no longer the case you are STILL on the hold file.
It will be some time before any sort of integration policy with VARA is achieved (my opinion), so until then the traditional method of hiring and fleet allocation will remain.
It's important to realize nobody here even knows when the next intake will be, how many and in which type.

Until then, don't read too many posts on here and try not to worry until you have something concrete to worry about. Anything may happen!!

Cheers 34R. I figure thats the case. I see VARA just being the same situation as Qlink and Qantas. Same uniform and wings, same livery, different airline.

So, back to the waiting game!

Are the two people pictured here on the recruitment website actual VA crew? Just wondering whether they're there for the sake of political correctness or whether they are actual VA crew members. BTW, nice uniform for the ladies.

Is it looking like DEC's will be needed on the ATR? Or enough experience in the RHS boy and girls to upgrade?

If you have a seniority list question the best people to ask would be your union reps.

As for hiring my advice would be this:

Apply to Virgin, Jetstar and Tiger in no particular order if your goal is to fly a jet for an airline. Whichever one calls first is the job for you. Trying to forecast what might happen is basically impossible. Just ask anyone interviewed between 2007/10! The difference of even 6 months in that era has made a ALL the difference. Cruel but true. Take any base, take any type and sort that detail later.

As I've said before if you are after a quicker jet command than Tiger and Jetstar might be the better ones for you. All these jobs have their pros and cons no one job is better than the other but if you specifically can't stand LCC's (me) or you hate the idea of being in the RHS for a long time then filter accordingly.

Best of luck.

Bump. Heard there was an email confirming no new recruitment beyond the current Ejet courses already underway.

Duxnutz is correct. Nothing in the foreseeable future for anything outside of the turboprop operation.

What does that mean for CRFO positions on the B777? Same deal?

There's Tiger Hugh.

Stacks of experienced pilots swimming around in the Hold pool.

Difficult to second guess any airline crewing decision (understatement I know), but if the purported expansion of TT goes ahead, 19 extra A320's are going to need nearly 200 new drivers?

And remember they've already been vetted.

You guys that keep linking Tiger jobs to Virgin jobs are kidding yourselves. They are two completely seperate entities, and Tiger isn't even part of the Virgin Group - they're just a majority shareholder. It's like linking Virgin pilots to recruitment at Etihad, ANZ or Singapore.

Plus, it's obvious Tiger use recruitment as another revenue stream - why would they drop this to take VA hold pilots?

You beat me to it, FTS. Separate entities they are.

Krusty, sources in the various regionals tell me that Tiger has been busy interviewing a considerable number of them. No doubt there should be a hold file, based on this info

I have no doubt that Tiger and Virgin have different recruitment criteria for applicants, just as QF did with their wholly-owned subsidiaries, including JQ (even though Tiger isn't wholly-owned). And I'm certain Tiger would insist on maintaining control of its recruitment processes.

If I were a job-seeker, I'd be sure to have an application in with both companies, even if I were on the VA hold file

As Snakecharma mentioned, both individuals are currently on B737.

Captain is an absolute gentleman, top bloke and very good at his job.

First Officer, is wonderful. Always smiling, and excellent operator. Hopefully she will see a command soon, very deserving.

No Political Interest. Email comes out if you want to be a part of advertising campaign. Real people, real jobs.

I for one wouldnt do it.......... to the travelling public, it is best I keep my ugly dial behind the flight deck door
