Take me back..

Take me back.. Take me back.. Take me back 20 years and I'll apply..

It could go places (Musket Cove) an ATR-42 couldn't. And vice versa (Fua'amotu, Faleolo, Vila)

SRN6 Hovercraft pictures by bird__photo - Photobucket

And no, I never got to 'fly' it.. Just used to visit the engineer, and climb all over it.
It went to Taiwan later..

Great photos...nothing like a bowl of kava after a hard days flying...

The Islanders and the Baron were all painted in the same scheme when I was there.

Thats a 12 right?

Saw some great progress with a 10A in New Zillund recently - huge amount of work hand fabricating frames/brackets/beams skins. Tail is nearly on, but no date set yet to be flying.

Frigate

There's a pic on Airliners showing VH-FID active in January this year and she's still on the register. I'd say she's still going strong. I'm sure others will know more.

The guy who bought it spent about a million dollars restoring it into the charter category. It is based in Geraldton and owned by a Doctor (Twin tailed Doctor Killer) and his wife who both fly it. I think they also own a C185.

I believe they also own a surgery called Midwest Aero Medical which is based at Geraldton Airport and he is also a casa DAME.

VH-FID is definitely not a Locheed 10 or 12 IT IS A BECH 18. Which is not a patch on the Locheeds.

Having part owned and flown a 12A they were built to last without the weak main spar of the B18.
