Jamair. Your post #308 on page 16........

To the best of my knowledge is an MAF C206 departing a mission strip south west of Goroka, PNG. Don't recall the name and it isn't as hairey as it looks - the slope is accenuated by a telephoto lens.

Its actually not disimilar to a liitle strip just north of your present locale called Fairview - had to take a Dept of Transport joker in there in a 172 a while ago. Side of a hill, ravine at the end with HUGE roiled up and downdrafts out of it - gotta take off uphill or end up in all sorts of trouble in the weird air currents.
I'll wack some more pix in as soon as finish unpacking from the latest migration

Tis indeed a 402C wing, methinks the imbalance is flap related.
I'd like to take an angle grinder to those useless VG tabs.

Red sky at night; shepherds delight,
Red sky in the morning; shepherds warning
Didn't apply on this particular day as it was fine everywhere.

An old saying, but not relevant I was told for Australia... the Red Sky at Night is a Shepards delight is supposedly only in the Northern Hemisphere... and vice versa, so for down under it's Red Sky at night is a Shepards warning and Red Sky in the morning is a Shepards Delight.

I don't understand, could you please explain further?
In EITHER hemisphere the weather and cloud moves from west to east generally, so how could it be different for the southern hemisphere?
Not a dig at you personally, just a question....
Z!

No idea actually... someone told me that recently and I took it on-board without really thinking about it! The only thing that I can think is that when the sun goes down over here, it's going up over there. I'll keep my mouth shut next time. No offence taken.

This may shed some light, (of all spectrums) on the matter.
