https://twitter.com/ChengWeiLai2 Yesterday, the news from the Ukrainian frontline reported that Ukraine lost 2 Leopard 2 tanks and 13 Bradley armored vehicles during the counterattack in Zaporizhzhia area, and the losses were all in the same location. Many people started to accuse the commander of the 47th Brigade, Valery Markus, of improper command. However, the 47th Brigade Commander's operational command was correct. The keyboard generals who criticized the brigade commander clearly lacked the basic knowledge of tank operations in modern warfare. The fact that the tanks were concentrated in the same position could only mean one thing: that they were passing through a mine field. Since the Russian military had intercepted the Ukrainian army's counter-attack intelligence early (as I analyzed in my Youtube broadcast two months ago), they laid a lot of anti-tank mines in the front line. In an area full of tank mines, engineers and minesweepers must be dispatched to clear the mines and then clear a path for the tanks to pass through, so the tanks move forward on the same route. This was the correct and efficient way to proceed. And why do I say that the brigade commander's operational command was correct? The reason is that the brigade commander sent engineers to clear a path before the battle started, instead of waiting until the first tank or armored vehicle was destroyed before starting to clear the mines, which means he fully considered the possibility of anti-tank mines. As a result, the tanks were destroyed by artillery fire halfway through the battle. Then why did Ukraine still lose 2 Leopard 2 tanks and 13 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles? The answer is that the tactical design of the anti-tank mines is such that the commander would set up enemy-free passages in specific areas and lure the enemy deeper to destroy them with artillery fire. The most famous example of this tactic is the Second Battle of El Alamein in World War II, where General Rommel used anti-tank mine tactics to make the British suffer, so I have edited a documentary full of this battle from the National Geographic Channel so that you can understand how difficult it was for armored troops to get through the mined areas. Therefore, my conclusion is that such losses are normal and understandable under the Russian anti-tank mines. The Ukrainian commanders did not make any obvious mistakes. The ones who are “to blame” are the “military experts” who do not understand the common sense of modern warfare and are eager to criticize the Ukrainian officers for their misconduct |

The time offset for the transmission to the receiver places that explosion at 01:54 Norwegian time (time delay of around 2 minutes for the transmission through the crust). Time on the chart is Norwegian local time, Ukraine time is +1 hr on that. The extended analysis has suggested to the same analysts that an earlier smaller seismic event happened around 20 minutes earlier at the same location. An FFT frequency analysis would be interesting but it is probable that this is an explosion.

The array can achieve a phase comparison for localising the bearing and distance, other arrays or sensors would increase the accuracy, but it is attributed to the destruction of the dam at this time. The estimates magnitude as an earthquake is not particularly high, Magnitude 1.5-2 is relatively low energy, but the conversion from a detonation to a seismic event is not provided. They have at least earlier records that they can assess the explosive charge, the photos of November show large detonations and give timings, that record would be interesting to compare.

I can understand why they were concentrated ( in a line) but not why they were so close together. The destroyed/damaged vehicles were mostly just a few metres apart as shown on video.
I would imagine trying to reverse along a narrow cleared path through a minefield would be a nightmare, especially under fire. |

I read elsewhere the oncoming vehicles tried to get past those knocked out to carry out the advance, but couldn’t due to the minefield either side, so got knocked out, if you look there is a mine clearing vehicle off to one side that looks like it was attempting to clear a path.
I would imagine trying to reverse along a narrow cleared path through a minefield would be a nightmare, especially under fire. EDIT: This blogger talks about the ambush from 8:40 with stills. |

Ukrainian partisans have reportedly cut the railway line in Russian-occupied Yakymivka, between the Russian-occupied cities of Dzhankoy and Melitopol/Tokmak. Explosions can be seen on pictures and it is claimed it is from the local rail bridge.
