I wonder if US/Israel have Iranian drone factories in their target sets.
And what that might mean for the war in Ukraine if so. EDIT: probably little effect as I see they are now been made in Russia under licence. |
CONUNDRUM
A It is right and just to attack - and hopefully destroy - a despotic regime ,which blatantly fuels terrorism throughout the Middle East - and the Western world - and has the potential to create an effective nuclear strike force - without waiting to tick all the boxes required by international law OR B should one wait - possibly forever - until ‘ international law ‘ gives the legal go-ahead ? I vote for A with the proviso that a clear moral case is established by unbiased observers . re the attack on Iran this definitely clearly IS established. Whatever people think of Trump IF his decision to attack Iran results in a democratic government replacing the current despotic regime he will go down in history as one of it’s greatest leaders. The next few weeks are indeed momentous for not only Trump but the entire Middle East ! Re the USA air armada - having seen similar action live in GW1,GW 2 and Kosova awesome is an understatement - it is easy for the casual observer to think that such an operation just happens -it certainly does not - the skill ,dedication ,bravery and shear professionalism of the aircrew involved should not be underestimated. |
Not sure if this is an addition or a rotation.
Mountain Home F-15Es to Move On! #FreeIran - -- Operation LION & SUN / ROARING LION / EPIC FURY --- After a brief stop-over at RAF Lakenheath, the "MO" group of F-15E "Strike Eagle" jets from Coronet East 044 appear to be preparing to move forward again, with tankers filing to support them - it remains unclear how many will move: KC-135R "GOLD76" 63-8873 #AE07C4 KC-46A "GOLD77" 21-46095 #AE63CB KC-135R "GOLD86" 61-0324 #AE0263 F-15E (x6) "TABOR11" to "TABOR16" F-15E (x6) "TABOR21" to "TABOR26" |
Hilarious typo in the transcript from the BBC reporting the death of the Ayatollah, "... Ali Hosseini Khamenei, on the path of upholding the exaltation of the sacred sanctuary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, drank the sweet, pure drought of martyrdom and joined the Supreme Heavenly Kingdom",
I suppose it was a typo and not just someone's - er - dry sense of humour? |
Gulf of Hormuz update.
Oman says a Palau-flagged oil tanker was attacked just off its shores while anchored near the Strait of Hormuz. The entire crew has been evacuated, with at least 4 injured. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....1f1c312476.png |
Baghdad....
Four Videos In Baghdad, Khamenei supporters are storming the U.S. embassy. Protesters are trying to break into the protected "diplomatic" area in the city center. Security forces are dispersing them with tear gas. In Iraq, explosions have been heard since the early morning. The target of the Iranians once again was the U.S. military airbase in the Erbil province — near the town and airport of Erbil. Harir Air Base is often used for operations against ISIS, logistics, and training. |
Drone strike in Oman

I guess Iran didn’t want Oman to feel left out. BV |
Iranian TV gradually giving out the names of those killed during the meeting with Khomenei. Seems to match the intelligence list posted earlier, I'd expect the other names to be correct as well.
Iran's state TV has confirmed the killings of four senior military figures in US/Israeli strikes on Saturday: 1. Abdolrahim Mousavi: Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces 2. Mohammad Pakpour: Head of the IRGC 3. Aziz Nasirzadeh: Defence Minister 4. Ali Shamkhani: Secretray of the Defence Council |
Baghdad US Embassy
Let’s hope it doesn’t turn into another Benghazi.
From what I can tell the embassy has not already been evacuated. Hopefully there are enough US forces nearby to extract them if required. BV |

No confirmation about "seizing control", but riots across the country are escalating as the IRGC seem to be losing control- probably due to the lack of direction from above - and repeated attacks on their bases of course.....
Video Reports from western Iran say protesters have seized control of Abdanan after clashes with Revolutionary Guard forces. There are some preliminary reports that Ahmad Vahidi has been named IRGC commander-in-chief, replacing Mohammad Pakpour. If confirmed--and I haven't seen an official state media announcement yet--Vahidi will be a top target for Israel over the next days. He is the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice for the AMIA bombing in 1994. Vahidi was previously Quds Force commander, defense and interior minister, deputy chief of staff of the Armed Forces General Staff, and IRGC deputy commander-in-chief. Internally in Iran, the series of top brass positions will position Vahidi as a formidable force in decision-making circles. This morning, the Americans attacked Kermanshah once again. This is what the perimeter of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps base looks like now. |
Another death admitted by the Iranian media...
Iranian media reports: Mohammad Baseri, senior official in Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security, was eliminated in an IAF or USAF strike Saturday morning. Baseri is sanctioned by the US and wanted by the FBI for his alleged involvement in the abduction and probable death of retired FBI Special Agent Robert A. Levinson. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....209037a1eb.png |

Iran is now moving to a temporary Leadership Council after the death of Khamenei Mohsen Rezaee. A senior military officer in the IRGC, who is also a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, announced that a Leadership Council will be formed today, and members of the Guardian Council will take over the administration of the country with the Iranian President and the Head of the Judiciary |
Update on attacks on Iranian navy from an Iranian source.
The entire 10th Tactical Air Base and Iran's 3rd Naval Force have been destroyed, hundreds of soldiers are still under missile fire. I hope they just finish it off now, finish it, you shameless bastards! Shameless Khamenei, Netanyahu and shameless Shahzadeh, stop the missiles. Dead rat, enough with one hand already.... |
Iran is now saying the Gulf of Hormuz is till open - but the insurers are still pulling cover so expect most shippers to suspend movements and the price of oil to continue to rise.
The Strait of Hormuz remains open to tankers “until further notice,” said former IRGC commander and Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei. His remarks were cited by the Financial Times. At the same time, he warned that U.S. military vessels are “legitimate targets” for Iranian strikes. Ships avoid the Strait of Hormuz, tanker hit off Oman Drone attacks on the ports of Jebel Ali and Duqm, and a Palau-flagged tanker reported hit off Oman |
Two missiles from Iran were fired in the direction of Cyprus, where the UK has military bases, the defence secretary has revealed. John Healey said the government did not believe they were targeting the bases intentionally, but said “it shows how indiscriminate” the Iranian retaliation to Saturday’s US-Israel strikes was. |
I see a couple of Shadow R1s are operating out of Akrotiri.

A vessel navigating international waters north of Oman's capital, Muscat, fell victim to an unidentified projectile attack on Sunday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO). The ensuing blaze in the vessel's engine room was promptly contained, as stated by UKMTO. This alarming episode is the second maritime incident reported on Sunday by the agency. The earlier report highlighted an incident near Kumzar in the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about maritime safety in the region. |
Aviation related report by the IDF. 4 less aircraft now in the Iranian Air Force
Video STRUCK: Two F5 and F4 fighter jets at the airport of Tabriz in western Iran, as the jets were prepared for takeoff. The strike was conducted to degrade the Iranian Air Force’s activities and to further expand the degradation of their aerial defense. |
