As for back in Mother Russia, well, such a pleasant people..... A translation for you..

The rising generation of hammerers. In the Ulyanovsk region, some teenagers beat others with hammers. In a country where killing a person with a sledgehammer is considered normal, and State Duma deputies approve of such reprisals, one cannot expect a different effect. Something from them, let it grow

Nutty I look forward to your informed posts. Not being into social media this is the one place I find I get decent and accurate information. Being new on here I don't post much but check here multiple times a day. Just becauseI don't reply doesn't mean find you irelevant, keep up the good work:ok:

Speculation: The orcs could be collecting target GPS coordinates and using that to target missiles.

It is an EPIRB rather than a PLB so minimum transmission of 48 hrs.

As you say, there are better ways of getting coordinates. My personal suspicion is that it is ad-hoc initiative from a local unit. Drop an old EPIRB close to a forward Ukrainian unit, hope that they realise that it isn't a weapon; pick it for further investigation and transport it somewhere that represents a more valuable target. . As the transmissions are unencrypted, any old drone with a 406 Mhz receiver (or even121.5 Mhz) would be enough to get a decent location. Given that the photos are taken somewhere indoors, it looks like it might have worked.

Ukraine are now operating disposable cardboard UAV’s that are capable of carrying a 3-5 Kg payload 40-120Km!

Cardboard!!!

Recc, interesting thought. Perhaps better to cover the PLB/EPIRB with a bucket to block transmission until verified not booby trapped. Then simply switch off.

Thanks NutLoose. It's easy to have a quiet chuckle at the delusional nature of the message these people are feeding to their audience, but they are presumably just feeding the deeply ingrained sense of paranoia and ultra-nationalism that the Russian state fosters in its people. When the Cold War ended there was hope of a normal relationship with Russia, but the casual violence and hatred contained in these broadcasts makes me wonder if that was ever realistic.

Equate aa welcome to the forums :)

This looked decidedly dodgy for the troops on the ground.

Norwegian Leopards and support vehicles are already in Ukraine, long article and pictures.

OK, here is one for the more knowledgeable;

Over the last 3 to 4 months an incredible amount of equipment has been given or is going to be given to UKR (Challenger 2, Bradley, Skyshield/ranger & so forth), maybe I've got it all wrong but I expected some of this would be in country by now but haven't seen much of any of it. Which do you think applies;

* Some was lip service
* The process is beyond slow (I appreciate the training time & so forth)
* It is in country, just on the QT & being kept that way
* It's being amassed for a larger action

I think you didn't notice the delivery-dates attached to this equipment ( when any were given ). The tanks were end March/April and Canada has already flown in ( to Poland ) 4 x Leo 2, Poland sent the same number in late February and Norway has delivered 8 x Leo 2. A consignment of 60 (?) Bradleys landed in Bremerhaven mid-February. Since troops are still training on Challengers, Bradleys, Leos and other systems, it would make no sense to send this equipment into Ukraine to be a massive, stationary target when the operators are still in-training outside the borders.

Skyranger ( quantity unknown ) delivered February https://www.ukrainetravelnews.com/ai...dy-in-ukraine/

Whatever next. The steam-driven Zeppelin was designed by the Goons I recall.

NutLoose 20th Mar 2023 21:39

The Drone attack in Dzhankoy took out a Russian train load of Cruise missiles apparently.

I Think I did.

Will we be issuing delivery locations as well as dates to Putin.....

Skyranger "in Ukraine", but little mention of it.

You don't say.

I don't think that this type of response encourages discussion.

Knock out a few thousand of those and saturate the enemies defences.

NutLoose 20th Mar 2023 22:31

I would imagine the western tanks etc are in training to operate with the support vehicles, Bradley’s, SPAA’s, Marders etc to work up as combined brigades. It’s ok teaching abroad on individual platforms but at some point you need to pull all the platforms together as a cohesive force using both Westen and Ukrainian tactics.

On a footnote when we were talking ages ago about training on the As-90’s in the U.K. and the fact they were doing a lot of reversing about on the ranges.

The reason may be simple, in the training on the Challengers they found the Ukrainians would turn the tanks around to move back, apparently the T-72 has a really slow and dismal reverse gear on it so they would turn the tank to retreat from the firing point.
However the likes of the Challenger can reverse at near enough the same speed as going forward, so it is advantageous to reverse and thus optimise the protection of the frontal armour. Hence drilling it into them the habit of reversing off the field.

Buy One, Get One Free; order a drone from the Big River, then weaponize the box it came in!! Gotta hand it to those Ukrainians!

Russian contractors are urgently seeking builders and carpenters to construct trenches and fortified positions in the occupied Crimea. Adverts have appeared on Avito, Russia's equivalent of eBay, offering up to 7,000 rubles ($91) a day for the work – but it can be risky.
