Russkies nearby certainly need wads of it to plug ears. Probably explains their apathy to the SMO.

Yes But.

A matter of priorities. Russia has had for ever to attempt to become a democracy. Good luck with that I fear.

I am at a loss on how to justify this, these people are dying because of a few elected people in the west, who are more self interested than anything else.
How to snatch defeat from victory, from a position of strength with the means and well fortified positions to extract maximum amount of damage and losses on the Russian forces, to a point where Ukraine is fighting for their lives and people are dying because of the lack of munitions and supplies.. This is rapidly turning into Ukraines "Bridge to Far".

I dread to think of the horrors that are about to be inflicted on the women and children in the major cities when the likes of the Patriot and other systems start to run dry of missiles.

Does the west not understand that the place to stop Russia's ambitions and goals is IN Ukraine. Without Ukraine, Russia will probably try it on in one of the smaller NATO states and if the response is as nonsensical as the current state of affairs and NATO stalls in it's response and ponders on the brink of war, then Putin will know the west will not interfer.
That was proven in Georgia, that gave Putin the confidence to annex Crimea and the Donestsk regions, full well knowing the west would NOT interfere, and true to form we didn't, which gave him the confidence to further his ambitions and to try it on in Ukraine.. Thankfully the World united against that and Ukraine fought back... But now we are at a turning point in History and we need to either put up or shut up and slink away in shame as genocide is carried out in our name.

Russia's defence ministry is proposing to raise the upper age limit for military service by contract soldiers and mobilised men to 65.

A good time for a reminder that the life expectancy at birth for men in Russia per latest world bank data is 64.

Yesterday, Ukrainian pilot Vladyslav Rykov was killed during a combat sortie on a Su-25 fighter jet. He had 385 sorties to his credit.

"He was the best pilot and commander I knew. He covered my back from the beginning of the full-scale war both on the ground and in the air, trained a large number of both combat subordinates and leaders," fellow pilot Lt. Col. Rostyslav Lazarenko said.

Changes at the top of the Ukrainian Military. This is from The Kyiv Post but it's being widely reported - opposition MPs are criticising the change.

President Zelensky has announced the replacement of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Gen. Valery Zaluzhny.

In a slightly vague post on social media, Zelensky said: "I met with General Valerii Zaluzhny. I thanked him for the two years of defending Ukraine.

"We discussed the renewal that the Armed Forces of Ukraine require. We also discussed who could be part of the renewed leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The time for such a renewal is now."

Ukraine's defense minister Rustem Umerov confirmed Zaluzhny had been removed from his post: "Today, a decision was made to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"I am sincerely grateful to Valery Fedorovych (Zaluzhny) for all his achievements and victories."

Zelensky said he's asked Zaluzhny "to continue to be in the team."
Speaking after his dismissal was announced, Zaluzhny said: "The tasks of 2022 are different from those of 2024."Therefore, everyone must change and adapt to the new realities as well. In order to win together."

Zaluzhny will be replaced by Oleksandr Syrsky who has commanded Ukrainian forces defending Kyiv and Kharkiv.
