Russia's foreign ministry has condemned Joe Biden’s plan to compensate the release by Ecuador of Soviet-era weapons, which would then be sent to Ukraine, in exchange for newUS military equipment

An Ecuadorian
government spokesperson said that the equipment being considered included rocket launchers, anti-aircraft systems and transport helicopters along with reports that some equipment had been shipped on an Antonov An-124 airlifter on Jan. 25.

Solovyov is pissed off with Russian bloggers spreading disinformation about the Russian convoy destruction and is calling for harsh sentences for those posting disinformation… like 2 years in prison.. how can you ever call a film of a Russian convoy getting destroyed disinformation Is beyond me, it shows how controlling their media is trying to hide the truth and reality from the Russian people. Heck even the dumbest Russian must realise everything Is not going well with explosions and fires left right and centre.

Czechs want EU to shop abroad for Ukraine shells

BRUSSELS — Europe is falling way short on its pledge to send 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine by March, and the Czechs say it’s high time to look beyond the borders of the EU for supplies.

Ukrainian forces on the front lines are warning they are running perilously low on ammunition to take on the Russian invaders in a war dominated by artillery bombardments.

The EU had originally pledged to supply 1 million shells by March, and France led calls for Europe to build up its homegrown industrial prowess to deliver munitions to Kyiv. However, the EU now says 524,000 shells will reach Ukraine by the March deadline, with 1.1 million only promised by the end of the year.

Frustrated by this shortfall, Prague is pushing EU countries to finance the purchase of what it estimates are 450,000 rounds of artillery available outside the bloc, four diplomats and a person familiar with the talks told POLITICO…..

Solovyov has some reality coming his way in the foreseeable future. As some point the families of the #200's will start hunting for retribution, and at that point, Mr S and Mrs S from RT will be needing a safe haven that has a rule of law and that ain't Russia. There are approaching 400,000 ex Russians & their mates (Donbassian and Lunskii's are not counted by Russia, the people that came to liberate them and then killed them on the whim of Putin, as per the wagnerites, they seem to not count for anything in Russia). Each one of those affects multiple other family members, brothers, sisters, fathers, sons, etc, and that is a lot of people to worry about the one only that is needed to spit their dummy at the lies from their propogandists. At that point, when the penny drops, I should hope that the EU and other western govts don't offer asylum for the lunatics.

Bravo, Ecuador. While getting new American kit is a nice boost for them, it may not help them with their current problem of narco terrorism and gang violence. (A friend of mine is married to a lady from Ecuador, and she's not pleased with what's going on "back home" of late).

Is South Korea producing ammo of the right types these days? Perhaps they are but for the moment they are not sending arms to Ukraine. (From The Economist recently).

But so they have. On a visit to Seoul on January 30th Jens Stoltenberg pushed South Korea’s president to help meet Ukraine’s urgent need for ammunition. It was time, according to NATO’s secretary general, for Mr Yoon to “step up”.

Since the invasion of Ukraine last February, South Korea has supplied it with non-lethal aid including gas masks and medical supplies. And under Mr Yoon, who took office last May, it has robustly condemned Russia’s aggression. In a recent interview Mr Yoon called it “unlawful and illegitimate”. He also suggested allowing the war to grind on might embolden his country’s vicious neighbour, North Korea, into thinking “the international community would fail to respond to an act of invasion with the appropriate sanctions”. Such statements are consistent with Mr Yoon’s stated ambition, as Mr Stoltenberg might have reminded him, to make his country a more assertive global leader and defender of the rules-based order. Yet, despite having one of the world’s biggest and fastest-growing defence industries, South Korea still refuses to send Ukraine arms.
Perhaps he is watching at how fast ammo stocks get depleted in the Ukraine War, and is building more for his own pressing security concerns.

This has got to be worrying Russian pilots flying the TU-95 and launching against Ukraine, I wonder who shot him, Ukrainian agents?

I'm not a Russian sympathiser and want to see Ukraine win but feel a little uneasy about this. Is he a Bomber Pilot who was ordered to bomb a target. Are we to just kill pilots now regardless?
He is the enemy but isn't there a code of conduct in war we should respect else slip down a slope of barbaric behaviour?
Randomly assassinating people just doesn't seem right to me.

Donate what? All they have is Mig 21s and maybe some Kamov helis.
They are using both types of Mil helicopters they have and with Kosovo situation, I don't think they are giving those away. Not a single tone of replacing them with Western tech, so......

Respectfully, I disagree. He was a combatant and would have continued to be. Now he won’t be.

At the risk of making this too political and getting it moved to Jet Blast (or simply deleted), Russia doesn't have a monopoly on labeling news that makes the government look bad "disinformation" - it's been going on with some regularity in west as well (especially during an election year).

The thing is DogTailRed2, a great deal of the Russian military have already slipped down the slope of barbaric behaviour, and to quite a depth. You reap what you sow and all that.

The pilot is complicit in a criminal enterprise, by the definition that emanates from the mouth of Putin, Lavrov, Peskov, and the rest of the gang. They elect to murder civilians in a country that has the abject misfortune to have been located adjacent to the crime gang. Every party given criminal orders has the obligation not to follow such orders. They did not object, they follow dutifully their crime bosses orders. Ukraine has legal right under the UN Charter to defend itself from the crimes of Putin.

Still searching for basis of sympathy, not findng a reason.

Russia can stop wasting their citizens lives from the apathy that gives Putin his power, Ukraine has no such option.

The target at Belbek airfield appears to have been the radar control centre.

Any captain commander or crew of any russian tank, launcher, vessel or aircraft that has launched or fired weapons upon Ukainian civilian population centres is a war criminal and terrorist. I dug civilians out of destroyed buildings and stood with civilians including helpless children and elderly in the destroyed centres of Bahkmut, Soledar and Siversk last year as they did it.

I saw them target hospitals.

I hope it hurt while his life ebbed away.

I dont ever want these people experiencing freedom outside their glorious russia.

He was not randomly assassinated. He is a legitimate military target. By removing a pilot from the scene, that is a Russian bomber that is no longer available to kill innocent civilians.

I must admit I do find it strange some of the reactions to the aircraft Captain being killed on here, simply because he wasn’t killed performing his duty.

As said already, he is a combatant and regardless of if he is flying or not, he it still fair game.

If you cannot take out the aircraft, take out the pilots which is the better option, take out an aircraft on the ground you can stick the pilot in another aircraft, take out the pilot and then those aircraft cannot fly and not only that you in effect take out the whole crew.

The reaction is almost as if the pilots amongst you are realising you could be killed before getting airborne and you see that as bad form.

There was a reason in Germany why they used an APC to transfer Sqn Pilots to the aircraft from the hard, it was because they were the weakest link.

The way they can target the likes of an APC or hard these days, it would probably be smarter to have the pilots dispersed in HAS or wherever with their aircraft, who knows they may do that these days.

More on his shooting.
