Ukraine War Thread Part 2
Rust. They pulled it off the trailer, the thing was not running. I'm curious how Russia, with a GDP equal to Italy, expects to win a war of attrition of material against the western supported Ukraine - I do understand the population differences. The Russkies have upped their projected military 2023 expenditures to $100 billion, which is 1/3 of the entire Russian budget. Keep the pressure on.

The only thing I could think of would be to bury it up to the turret and use it as a fixed point pill box on the line, as Germany did during the war.
Fascinating site below BTW, I read it often.

I suspect their game plan at this stage amounts to clinging on until they can get Trump over the line in 15 months time and into power in January 2025, at which point US support will evaporate.
Does anyone else find it astonishing that the world has reached a point where Russia's future quite likely hinges on:
A) The support of the US GOP
and thus
B) The outcome of a racketeering trial in Fulton Country, Georgia?

So Russia is fighting a war of attrition with a nation with just under a third their population, but with the support of most of the western world.

It has a powerful 122 mm cannon which uses two-part ammunition, so that will presumably be at least 40 years old: who thinks that 's going to be reliable ?
The T62 did have a one part ammunition but the ammo was too long to be handled easily in the cramped loading area inside the turret.

Lots of rumors have been running around today. The latest information is beginning to provide some clarification. This was posted 6-hours ago:
"On the Orekhovsky segment (Robotyne AO), the APU is getting closer to Tokmak. Information is being received that the second line of defense of katsapni has been broken in two sectors of the front.
Fighting is underway in the villages of Novoprokopovka and Novopokrovka. The Ukrainian armed forces are getting closer to the villages of Verbovo and Kopani.
The orcs are still trying to snap back, but they can't change the situation on this front. The rashists have very large losses, and there is nowhere to replenish fresh meat.
It is reported that the katsaps began evacuating the FSB Department and headquarters from Tokmak. That is, they are doing badly and they no longer believe that they will keep Tokmak."
