We according to the latest theory...
You will keep what you have got.
You will then have a choice as a born scot to apply for a Scottish passport.
Your kids will be able to as well if they are born in anywhere else.
Quite what happens out after that nobody knows in the unlikely event it actually happens.

And what would happen to your part-FCL pilot licence in the (hopefully) unlikely event of an independent Scotland - which would be outside the UK, EU and de facto EASA?
Has the idiot Salmond indicated whether a 'Scottish Aviation Authority' would be created to administer all those regulatory requirements currently undertaken by the UK CAA and NATS? Such as pilot licensing, maintenance oversight, airspace regulation.....

Beagle, The EU debate seems to have gone quiet at the moment, but Salmond's plan has always to have Scotland IN the EU.
The question is whether ceding countries inherit the treaties of their parent

Won't change Beagle you don't need to live in an EASA state to hold one.
in the unlikely event, what will happen to aviation in Scotland is going to be interesting.
But current pilots will just keep on going as they are just now.
Scottish ATO's though will be stuffed with EASA fee's if they want to keep their offshore approvals.
Can't see anyone changing there AOC's or aircraft reg's

Cruel as it is to mock the afflicted, in a way it would be almost good for the Independence lot to win, because in 5 years they would be like the guy outside the cockpit of Tony Hancock's plane "Can I come in". Without their own currency, there would be no central bank, no control of financial regulators so no control of the economy, no financial institutions because no regulator. Salmond is playing on the emotion he claims to despise and has no real plan for how an independent Scotland would manage itself. On the other hand , if he loses, he is off into a black hole somewhere never to be seen again, hopefully. My one and only rant on the subject "Rant" now "off"

I don't think it will be as bad as some make out, but I am sure it won't be as they make out.
There is between 10-15% minimum split between Yes and No and about 4.5 mill voters.
I can't see them getting half a mil to change their minds from No to yes even though Salmond did put up a good show last night.
So I am afraid your not going to be able to get shot of your fat biffa jocks if that was your hope.

The thinking has been done, but, quite rightly, the Gov isn't going to waste time and money on the subject until they know it's needed. SNP can make all the claims they like about Defence, currency, etc, but there is no policy as yet, just empty promises by Mr S.

Not withstanding the fact that fitting floats to the typhoons so they can operate out of Faslane, so as to preserve the jobs there as the wee man promised, would be perhaps a bit tricky...is he planning on calling on Macgyver?

Having flown out of Kinloss (ghost town), Lossie (no room in the mess) and Leuchars (ghost town to be) in the last few weeks - my dream ("I have a dream..") would be:
Casa 295 with MPA pallets at Kinloss
Gripens at Lossie
Tutor/Tucano/King Air at Leuchars (EFT & AFT)
Rotary - dunno - central belt somewhere. Specialist training contracted out
Nothing like the capability but a lot cheaper. And we couldnt get dragged into a few foreign adventures by the septics because the kit is all short range and limited capability!
Oh and before anyone asks, I'm English and off to the Royal Lincolnshire Airforce for the next tour - bye bye scenery.....

Did anyone else notice this?
Mr Darling castigated Mr Salmon for 'failing to balance his books...."
Somewhat ironic for the chancellor who ran up the largest national debt in UK history,I suggest?

No didn't marry her.
But she isn't unique in the eastern European army's, the tattoo in Latvia is meant to be particularly pleasant on the eye.
I don't think the uniform would work quite as well with some of our girls.

This is what Mr Thin Pinstriped Line thought about the air force proposals in the SNP's white paper:

(For "********" read "b l o g s p o t")
'Nuff said!
Oh and as for civil aviation, this is all the white paper says:
Obviously a great deal of thought and research has gone into that...
http://thinpinstripedline.********.c...ottish_30.html
So in summary, the proposals for the SDF Air Force appear to be built around the concept of operating a very expensive and enormously capable fighter jet purely for QRA, while introducing an aged and nearly out of service transport aircraft into an environment where it has never been based before. It assumes that this will be done on a manpower ceiling capable of retaining key personnel, and recruiting / training more staff through a training and ground school environment which doesn't yet exist and would be extortionately expensive to create. All of this will be done within a shared wider budget of £2.5 billion.
Bluntly the sums don’t add up, the manpower totals don’t add up, and the ability to generate a long term and credible airforce is probably in doubt due to the lack of thought about the training and support implications of the plan.

Oh and as for civil aviation, this is all the white paper says:
We propose to retain the current regulatory framework governing aviation on independence through a memorandum of understanding with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The CAA will report to the Scottish Government on regulatory matters affecting aviation in Scotland.
Building on this initial arrangement an independent Scotland can develop its own regulatory body in due course.
