Since ARRSE is down right now I'll put this up here so it can be seen and cross post back to ARRSE when it rears it's ugly head again...

Ok... I have found a further 81 new Letters of Representation on the MVDC site.
Of those new letters 80 are in support of the application with 21 of those being from local residents.
This means we have a total of 557 letters in support of the application with 60 of those being from local residents. I am quite sure that there are many letters that have yet to be published and that a good proportion of those will also be from locals, (Please remember my definition of a "local" is someone with the word "Ashtead" in their postal address). It's also important to note that I have nearly 60 "unknowns" of which a few are probably locals too. There are several from towns such as Leatherhead and, I'm sure, others that fall in the constituency of the councilors on the committee making the local support at least equal to the objections if not greater than - only MVDC know for sure at this point.
There was a new letter of objection from an old lady who was "accosted" by "people proffering emotional leaflets" who believes there are better places in Ashtead. Fair play to her - she's lived in Ashtead since 1940 - I guess she didn't look up when the Battle of Britain was taking place overhead nor hear the bombs and V2's as they rained down on Headley Court.
I'm going to quit doing this now because the software MVDC use doesn't lend itself to this kind of activity. It should identify each letter individually but it doesn't, (if an MVDC representative is watching this - please talk to your provider about this - it's not your fault, the provider didn't forsee this situation). Thus there are duplicate submissions in some cases, (both for and against - so there's no conspiracy), and every now and again the documents get "shuffled" so links that my browser claims to have not been visited actually have been but there are now links that my browser tells me have been visited when they are new submissions. This leads to a good amount of confusion on my part and, therefore, why I am stopping attempting to collate the data for fear of being accused of misinforming you and, by proxy, Red Team supporters.
Disclaimer: The figures above are my best effort at accurate figures within the framework of the "moving data points" I am provided. I believe them to be accurate to within a percentage point or two.

MVDC attendance
Just leaving sunny Ramsgate for Dorking and the planning meeting where i am sure this application will be approved without any reserved matters.
Met a friend of mine who was unaware of the situation (has a MM) so knows what it like to be at the sharp end - and let him have the copy of today's Mirror walked of muttering i will be phoning some friends about the no 10 site this is discracefull.

The R2 discussion was basically Simon Weston and a SSAFA rep (can't remember his name) making the case.
A "resident" with the good idea but not there syndrome ( talked about flats 7 other locations) think we've seen these comments before, another Ashtead resident refuting these comments.
A Southampton e'mail agreeing with residents, most e'mails supporting and
then
some anti-war, anti forces person with absolutely no sympathy for the injured in "discussion" wth an ex-squaddie.

The SSAFA spokesperson is Athol Henry who did a magnificent job of utting the case forward, as did Simon Weston.
The Red Team "spokesperson" (who BTW, we don't find any record of on the list of objectors, nor residents in the locale) did however trot out the same old lines as we heave heard ad nauseum.
One line to take in rebuttal ref the £1.8m could buy a bigger house claim: the issue is not the purchase cost but the whole life cost to consider. There is no point buying a bigger, cheaper house, if over the life of the use it costs far more to maintain and operate over a more expensive initial capital outlay that is in better physical condition, needs less spending on maintenance, and is cheaper and more fuel efficient to run. Therefore to suggest a cheaper property is better value for money is to misunderstand the whole life cost issue and thus mis-represents what is a sound investment by SSAFA.
I did thikn our friend from Norfolk was about to be invited to a dimly lit pub car park somewhere to further "explain his point of view"

I'm just a civi but would like to say, as this is my first post.
There is absolutely no excuse for not giving wounded soldiers, sailors or airmen and their families the best care and attention that can be provided.
It doesn't matter if you agree with our wonderful government's decision to fight in hot and sandy places or not.

Anyone know what's going on with ARRSE? Did they read out the website address on the Jeremy Vine show or something?

This is an educated guess but they seem to have some corruption with the database. I can get to the site from time to time but when getting into the NIMBY thread I can often get to page 352 but I always get a failure when I try to go to page 353...
It's not a denial of service attack on the bandwidth or you wouldn't be able to get to the site at all.
I've asked PTP if there's an ETA.

Listened to Jeremy Vine, very good presentation, but did not go for the kill, sometimes you wish Paxman worked in the daytime, maybe Newsnight would take a lead when the meeting has finished.
