Just been on Today - good piece. Seems like it's already been pegged for refusal, so should be an interesting meeting.

Over 40K sigs now, will probably hit 3rd place in the next few mins

Good luck tonight.

Good luck for today. I'm not ex-forces, but I still feel disgusted by these idiots, as should anyone with half a brain.

Well done all of you here and on ARRSE.

Radio 4 today Programme.

Re: Radio 4 today Programme.

It was a cracking piece wasn't it? Fair, objective and very deeply emotional all at the same time. If it didn't get your lip quivering then I don't know what would.

I have sent a message of thanks to Mr Stickler.

Radio 4 Today Programme

Guys,

Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/radioplayer_holding.shtml

Find the Today programme (Wednesday) and when the player pops up scroll ahead to 2hrs30 and there's the piece.

Nice work all on this one, rooting strongly for you all tonight. This is a disgrace and must not be allowed to come to pass.

'Today'

If you missed Angus Stickler's piece on 'Today' at 0830, you can hear it on the Today website. Unfortunately they were having some problems at 0830, and the recording misses the start of the introduction. Anyway, when you go to the link below, scroll down 'Today's Running Order' and click on the 0830 - 0900 button.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/

Trying for more coverage elsewhere later today, more fingers crossed

airsound

PS Mr Bunker's way of doing it (post 404, 0931) does at least get you all of the somewhat halting introduction!

All
Firstly may I offer my support to all the people involved in this and I wish you the best of luck tonight. Not having been able to contribute to this campaign before, I thought that I would have a look at the core strategy for Mole Valley's planning department as published in May 2006 - my apologies if this has been discussed before but I haven't had time to go through all 21 pages.
A caveat to the following is that I am writing this as someone that does not have any involvement with councils or planning departments but a quick scan through the published strategy (http://www.molevalley.gov.uk/media/p...(May_2006).pdf) reveals the following vision (page 24 for those who are interested):
Issues:
1. Ensuring housing provision
2. Addressing housing need, including affordable housing, sites for Gypsies and
Travellers and Travelling Show People
3. Addressing housing balance – ensuring mix of tenure, type and size
Goal:
To provide homes to suit all needs and means
As a layman, I would have thought that this need for a house for relatives to stay in could very well be deemed to fall under this vision if, as it obviously does, it is also there to cater for Gypsies, travellers etc etc.
Just my tuppence worth and once again, good luck to all involved.

Thanks West Lakes

Had to do a little work this morning.

If anyone who is going isn't a member of ARRSE, let me know and I'll post it over there for you.

There was a chimp from Norfolk on the Vine Show actually arguing that because the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are 'illegal' the wounded troops' families should pay for and find their own B&B accommodation!

He did sound what we in the medical world call a bit 'special' (or NFN - normal for norfolk) but there's something far amiss if people nowadays can't separate the warrior from the war. As if Servicemen get to choose which wars to fight!

Looks like ARRSE is haveng probs

The R2 discussion was basically Simon Weston and a SSAFA rep (can't remember his name) making the case.
A "resident" with the good idea but not there syndrome ( talked about flats 7 other locations) think we've seen these comments before, another Ashtead resident refuting these comments.
A Southampton e'mail agreeing with residents, most e'mails supporting and

then

some anti-war, anti forces person with absolutely no sympathy for the injured in "discussion" wth an ex-squaddie.

Sorry I think chimps are more intelligent that the

'special' (or NFN - normal for norfolk)
just my opinion

(this does not apply to all folks from Norfolk - just that one)
