And UAV continue to dominate the battlespace….

Royal Navy's intention to put Heavy Lift drones on all ships; and the ability of said drones to deploy STINGRAY / its successor. It is a compelling vision. It answers need to deploy ASW torpedoes at relevant range (which ship tubes can't do) without using a MK41 cell for an ASROC.

You've seen drones before, but not like this.

In partnership with Malloy Aeronautics, we recently demonstrated the T-600 heavy lift, all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) demonstrator aircraft, at a recent NATO event in Portugal. 👇

I note the reports claim that HMS P o W is UK's largest carrier. I was not aware that we had three or more.

It's well documented that PoW is slightly larger than the QE.

Exactly, which is why she's not the largest

If we're going to be like that, she's also larger than Eagle, Hermes, various Ark Royals, Invincible, Illustrious etc, which makes her the largest carrier we've ever built :-)

She is larger than the QE, making her the largest of the two.

Please let's drop this grammatical wrangling!

The ancient weather-guesser was making the pedantic point that a comparative adjective is appropriate where two items are under consideration, whereas the original article used a superlative.

Back to discussions of the RN's brace of aircraft carriers now please!

I would prefer couple of carriers (as in beagles) as I prefer to the think of them as hunters rather than prey/targets.

The self-diagnosed pedantic weather guesser is duly rebuked, but in truth there were not one and a half couple, and never will be.

one and a half couple
(or rather a couple and a half) sounds like an expression referring to hounds from that despicable 'country sport' of fox murdering.

Back to RN ships - have there been any further COD proposals using the V-22 or similar?

Wasn’t sure if this should be here or the European army thread - but since it’s about a ship…..

https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/seni...craft-carrier/

Senior EU official pushes for European aircraft carrier

As first reported by Joshua Posaner and Laura Kayali at Politico, EU Internal Market Commissioner, Thierry Breton, has stressed the importance of Europe bolstering its defence.

His propositions include the creation of an aircraft carrier and a missile defense shield.

During his speech at the European Defence and Security Conference, Breton accentuated the European Commission’s need to launch an “ambitious European defence investment program”.

Amid anticipation for an imminent European defence industrial strategy, set to be unveiled on November 8, Breton advanced the conversation on the building of an aircraft carrier, a “Eurodome air defense system”, and a space-focused “European threat detection and identification capability”.

Breton
was quoted as saying, “With the return of high-intensity conflict on the European continent, we have no other choice,” while addressing defence industry magnates in Brussels.

Germany previously wanted a European aircraft carrier

Back in 2019, then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel endorsed the idea of a joint European aircraft carrier. The idea was suggested by her party’s leader, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.

“The next step could be to start on the symbolic project of building a common European aircraft carrier” to underline what the EU calls its global security role.

Merkel said in March this year, according to Reuters, that “it’s right and good that we have such equipment on the European side, and I’m happy to work on it”.

Interesting seeing the T-600 being flown using a hobby RC transmitter, in this case the cheapest nastiest Chinese FRsky Taranis...

🚨 JUST IN: The UK Ministry of Defence has placed the UK Carrier Strike group (including Europe’s most advanced aircraft carrier: HMS Queen Elizabeth) on alert for potential deployment to the Mediterranean.

Unsure if it will be deployed to the region but the UK fleet is cutting short a training exercise with the Norwegian Army.

Not sure what deploying an underequipped UK carrier is going to add to the capabilities of the Ford and potentially Ike Politico Pro: U.S. may send second aircraft carrier toward Israel except flag the UK as another country that can't be an 'honest broker' in any de-escalation talks and that Rish! is hoping to be Biden's poodle.

I would suggest a large empty deck and accommodation for any required evacuation - whether from Israel, Gaza or elsewhere depending on events.

A good point but I think an evacuation highly unlikely, however wouldn't Argus and an LPD (oh sorry we don't currently have an active one) make more sense. Are you meaning evacuation of non-residents and/or UK citizens?
