The RAF was forced by cutbacks to use a cheaper method to train the fighter pilots to fly, navigate, and shoot all at once. The armour-plated bowler was a later addition.

The remake of "Reach for the Sky" hit trouble when Google came up with the wrong "Sky" on the prop department's computer.

Having fired the Browning at full speed, trials revealed the commonly called Browning Effect, where a Browning stain was noted to the rear of the operator.

Early trials by the RAF equal opportunities branch revealed that the trade of air gunner could be opened up to wheelchair users, a fleet wide feasability study is now being carried out with the expertise of the Bader Bus Company to roll out wheelchair friendly access to the front, upper and rear turrets of the Lancaster bomber.
