The above post is correct regaring flight times. BUT...... at the American road shows, they said they wanted that jet time in at least 30 tonnes. So a CRJ-200 pilot like me wouldn't qualify, but a CRJ-700 pilot would. Makes no sense, and compounding the problem, the EK application menu has CRJ-200/700/900 as one. So they themselves don't differentiate between the 3. Leaves one scratching their head wondering 'what the heck!?'

Yes, that's what the lady told us at one of the recent pilot information sessions.

Has varied from 10-55 tons in the past, may change depending on crewing requirements.

Yes, the requirements are 4000 TT and 2000 hours on multi-engine jet aircraft. Strong preference is being given to time over 30 tons. Or you can have 2500 hours on this type of aircraft regardless of your total time.

I just received an interview with them and also just got 2000 hours on a jet over 30 tons. They will not budge on that preference.........yet.

I assume with your 2000 hours jet time you have >4000 total time? Or have you been given an interview with 2000 hours jet with no 4000TT?

Yes, the 2000 hours has to be accompanied by 4000 TT or greater and the 2500 hours is regardless of your TT.

Hello All

I have approx 1600hrs on the A320 and am looking to apply to EK next year. Would there be any chance of undergoing the selection process before I meet the requirements? Then if successfull, join the company upon attaining the 2500hrs...

So I guess the question I'm asking is whether the 2500hrs is an application requirement or a joining requirement?

From my experience it is an interview requirement. I think that is because they aren't wasting any time hiring you if you pass the interview.

The 2500 jet hours were very much an application requiremet. You won't get called for the selection process until your online application states 2500 hours jet

To clarify, the requirements on the website are written as:
4000TT
2000 jet

OR

2500 modern, multi engine, multi crew.

So to clarify, it's one or the other, right? Meaning if one has 2500 modern multi crew jet time and 3000 total time, they meet the minimums? The 2500 multi jet requirement had no total time listed.

You cant "walk in a resume"..it's not possible. Online is the only way to apply.

Anybody who attended any of the US open houses last month got shortlisted or called yet?They said 2 weeks but no word yet....

On the 3 referees part of the application, what are the positions of the referees you guys are giving? Do you think they accept a captain, he is supervising you...or do you think we really need to put the chief pilot name or similar? I have been called for interview next month and I didnt asked Emirates about this yet.....

If I give my management as a referee, I am afraid that if I dont get in Emirates and my management knows about my application. Maybe no Command for me or maybe I get sacked.

Do you really think your boss is going to fire you because you went for a job interview? I think people get waaaaaaay to worked up over this! I have told every one of my bosses since the beginning that I was looking to go somewhere else and never had a single issue.

If you're working for a boss that petty and vindictive then you have every cause to be looking for another job.

To answer your question here is the info (although, if you've been invited then you already have this),

Please arrive with up-to-date referees and contact details and enter this information on the form provided. You are required to provide names, contact telephone numbers and email addresses of at least three referees from Management (a minimum of two from your current employer, including one who has flown with you. If you have been with your current employer for more than five years, please provide three referees from this employer). A colleague or peer is not acceptable as a referee. As we contact referees early in the process, it is essential that you provide us with referees you are comfortable for us to contact immediately following the selection program.

P.S. If Emirates is checking your references then you are essentially hired (unless of course, you get a horrible reference). They don't check your references until after you have completed the entire selection program.

I know what they say in the application form. i was trying to see if they were flexible or not with that requirement.

You are lucky! With my previous employer I saw several guys getting sacked because they apply to another company, and some become unemployed because they didnt get the job they were applying to.

With my current employer I dont even want to try it...and probably i will give up going to Emirates just because of this. I am happy you had reasonable and normal persons for management at the companies you worked for, but you have to see that not everyone is that lucky. And not everyone can risk loosing their job that way.....

Coto, the very same question was asked at one of the USA information session. The HR girl said that she understands the problem that might pose, so if we are unconfortable with this we should use some other reference, as long as they are reliable.

Royalblue, as far as being called shortly after the roadshow, as you were told, I was also told it takes 2-3 weeks, but if you read my post a couple of pages before this one, I have been on the shortlist now for 1 year and still no call. I was told on another forum that they are now calling people with A320/B737 experience or bigger airplanes, once that pool is dry they will call guys with smaller jet experience. I understand it is their Company and they do what they prefer, but I still think it is unfair to those of us who work in regions where you will never see anything bigger than an Embraer (USA) as compared to those who are lucky enough to go straight to a 321 or 767 like in Europe. So 8,000 hours, 5,000 in jets over 30 tons (no Airbus or Boeing though) 3,000 of which are PIC and I am still waiting. Nothing against them, I just believe that although I am not Chuck Yaeger, I have a little more experience than one of my former students who was lucky enough to go straight to the 321 in Europe. Hopefully one day the call will come.:)

I dont get this. If you are presently employed by a fairly large company, chances are you`ve never ever met the chief pilot, let alone spoken to him. So three captain references are not good enough?

I have put in three TRE names... this should be enough or?

Hello to all.

I wanted to know if you get hired, how does the fleet assignment works. Boeing experience to Boeing? Or operational needs only? If you go to the Airbus, do you get to fly both A330/A340, or stuck initially on the A330. Is there CCQ on Emirates?

Is it true that I use up to 250hrs of PSii time towards the requirements? Does this need to be on an EK type, or can i choose any modern jet?
