Wondering if anyone has any news about recruiting plans since the accident?

Have heard of at least one turboprop only driver who was successful in DXB for PSP2 but after the accident was told he would not be offered a job. Anyone know anything about hold on recruitment for all/for turboprop drivers only?

The Outlaw 12th Aug 2016 02:19

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone is interested in joining now? With CM inbound to clean up the mess, any new joiner now will be looking at an effective permanent position as FO doing 90-100 hours every month. Couple that with the introduction of VAT, no pay raises, no profit share for many years (if not forever...someone has to pay...), and in a place which will test your marriage to the outer fringes and then some.

But like Falcon correctly said, "theres one born every minute" !

On the upside, I'd say that coming here will eventually make you aware of, and pursue other ways to make a living that DON'T involve aviation in ANY form.

With regard to sanity testing...I'd postulate that if you applied then you'd fail!

Seriously though, I believe you will find that things are going to change here and for the better. The company has (perhaps now had) the mistaken belief that they could effectively put a monkey in the right seat and teach it to push buttons at the right time...that automation was the answer while disregarding the industry wide reality that perfectly serviceable aircraft were crashing because pilots have been trained how NOT to fly by people who hold fancy titles....who don't fly.

Now, to find some old school pilots with common sense, hands & feet abilities, RT and a dash of airmanship....

Hey guys, does 2 years rule between attempts still exist?

natops 17th Aug 2016 10:36

joining

Even I thought, that with new guys joining, the monthly hours would go down.

But now I realise that the only result is the increase in destinations... Remember this part of the world is driven by greed...

We all fell in the same trap... join and see!

DEC

Want to know about DEC in Emirates r they recruiting still , how is their training goes and is true that Trainers r purposely giving them hard time , failing them cause of the culture of anti Dec , plz gentlemen be positive and objective away from the negative comments

thatwasclose 23rd Aug 2016 02:03

To the gentleman and ladies you intend on applying to Emirates. Currently Qatar or about anywhere else is a better job. There is a reason we keep lowering our hiring mins . It may seem like great news to you if suddenly you meet the requirements but remember when you come to a place like emirates you are coming for years. That will be years of min rest. Years of night followed by day flights. Ask yourself why is it the min requirements have become so low compared to years gone by ? We are no longer allowed to see the seniority list . Think about that. Do you really want to come work for a company with that kind of culture ? Never mind being unable to get your contracted vacation time. Guys please think hard and long before coming.

fatbus 23rd Aug 2016 06:20

ME has lost its appeal . EY and QR hiring DECs . Everywhere will now take longer to upgrade due to a number of reasons. One being Capts of the magenta line. Read big holes .EK knows all about the problems and issues but prefer to ignore. Latest crash won't change a thing.

Perwazee 23rd Aug 2016 19:19

TATA, why are you posting same question on various 'Threads'?
Besides, based on your English, I assume that your instructors weren't able to get across to you what they needed you to understand.

pfvspnf 25th Aug 2016 06:40

TATA if you really went from second officer to wide bodied commander in six years, kudos to you! That's amazing , we'd all love to hear your story !

tcas123 27th Aug 2016 08:59

This is so sad , Emirates to become like that , I think because of the wrong recruitment policy , they were recruiting very few or in other words specific nationalities , in the mean time , the neighbouring airline done the most hiring . Now they fall behind in their manpower , can't get neither DEC nor FO ,that backed fired on the line pilots resulted in terrible rosters and horrendous monthly hours ,unlike QR which was behind few years ago and now became very stable in rostores and better pay .

Flyboy_SG 27th Aug 2016 10:58

Well said outlaw, and they are blaming it on the gear ! Can you believe it?

Flyboy_SG 27th Aug 2016 11:03

Navigator 134, Just re apply and try your luck. It's a soft rule. But don't hide any facts.

TATA were the conditions horandus at QR too? I guess the vast recruitmenting has eased that up in the last few years :E

"Recruitmenting"

:D:D:D Once in a while we come across some real gems! Hello TATA :ok:

Trader 3rd Sep 2016 15:45

BroBear--they never give feedback as to the exact reason you failed. It may have been a COMBINATION of the sim and the interview/questions.

It might be worth finding some coaching on interviews. At the very least, try and remember the questions they asked, write them down, research some more typical questions and then PRACTICE. Not just sitting and reading the question and 'thinking' about the answer but rather have someone play the role of interviewer and VERBALIZE you answer. Knowing what you are going to say and actually saying it (especially under the stress of in interview) are two different things.

They expect you to know the 'type' of questions that will be asked and to have appropriate answers. For example: a very common question is to ask the candidate to 'give an example of a time when a captain did something that you did not agree with. How did you handle it'. The answer could be simple or complex - but you need to answer it!! You might get away with not being able to answer one, possibly two, such questions but that is it. I know guys who have LIED just to give a reasonable sounding answer.

Get some interview practice and do some research. You'll make it!!

dhc8d 3rd Sep 2016 16:17

Best website to practice this kind of stuff?
Thanks in advance

thatwasclose 4th Sep 2016 12:02

pilotjobs.com

you passed your sim. you would not have made it past the first day if you had not. they where being genuine, its professional, feelings don't matter.

but lets get this clear

if any of you guys complain about your hard rosters and how you hate the company and you are flying with me .... it is YOUR own fault. not emirates, not anyone else's. thats if i am still here. you all know how the company has changed and how tough it is.

Navigator-134 7th Sep 2016 13:52

Flyboy_SG, thx a lot!

PWFC 11th Sep 2016 08:08

Greeting All,

Currently in China on a WB and looking at EK..

I have read the threads and am familiar with the issues.

EK website shows DEC hiring... is this still the case.

Best Regards

PWFC

Can anyone tell me how long it takes currently from applying, to interview and then starting training?

aramcawy 12th Sep 2016 22:19

Received my interview dates last week. I am set on the 3rd-6th of Oct.

I would like to thank everyone equally for contributing to this great website. Its my main source for pilot's gossip and news. I joined when I started my flying school and this is my first post. It will not be the last for sure.

Good luck to everyone.

WX Man 15th Sep 2016 08:58

Heard on the grapevine that EK recruitment will be slowing considerably in the next few months. Any truth to this?

Also, are there any 777 drivers (F/Os, hopefully) who can give me a sample roster?

I hear people say that the roster is sh*te, but I'd like to compare it to my current roster just to see how sh*te it truly is!!!

kirungi1 15th Sep 2016 09:57

aramcawy;

I joined when I started my flying school and this is my first post.
That does seem to compromise some very basic values!

aramcawy 15th Sep 2016 13:35

Not sure what you're implying there. I was busy learning the how to fly and got even busier once became professional.

I worked for only one employer since I finished school and now I believe is a good time to move on to something bigger and better. That is why I became more active in this forum to get some valuable inputs instead of just reading.

Yours seems to be of no value at all at least to me.

pilot0 15th Sep 2016 21:26

Hi everybody!! I need the question bank for Emirates. Can you help me?

On the other hand, this question bank about the ATPL is the same that e-atpl or aviation exam in Europe?

Thank you very much!

natops 16th Sep 2016 03:12

Questionbank?

kirungi1 16th Sep 2016 09:20

aramcawy;

...this is my first post.
That was false. It's not hard to establish that :=

aramcawy 16th Sep 2016 10:53

Again.... No values added from your inputs at all.

kirungi1 16th Sep 2016 20:47

aramcawy; If you are willing to attend an Emirates' interview, then I would expect that you appreciate the values of honesty and integrity in what you claim. These values underpin and determine one's personality and professionalism. What you claimed (..."this is my first post") was not true as you clearly had posted before (check your profile).
Recruitment and HR are trained to identify these traits and before you know it, a PFO email will follow your interview.

Flyboy_SG 24th Sep 2016 04:18

Its ok Kirungi. its Just his second post indeed.

Aluminium shuffler 24th Sep 2016 07:39

Selection is thorough here. If you need the questions in advance so that you can cheat, you will be seen through immediately. Perhaps instead of putting effort into cheating, you should put some effort into improving your knowledge - that'd help you wherever you work or interview, not just in one interview which will result in failure?

fatbus 25th Sep 2016 02:21

Had a quick look at 777 FO rosters, 8-10 days off, afternoon Europe, night turns X 3 and the odd ULR or long freighter. Freighter being spilt off might help the mailine rosters for days off, 777 is now duty limited mainly due to all the 330 flights and some of the India night turns becoming layovers.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering which are the odds of getting an a380 position when coming from boeing experience.
Cheers.

Zero chance. Airbus experienced a prerequisite.

donpizmeov 13th Nov 2016 08:37

Not true. Boeing only new DEFO already in training.
