They're looking for pilots because half the pool will be out of date soon and they'll have no more pilots on standby.

Did you guys see the last email sent today?

Discouraging news I would say. They gave 16 new dates for January. Thought that this was for the first part of the month and some other guys were going to be given courses in January but in the email they say that next courses will be in February.
A quick look to the pool will tell us that we're around 150 guys, if only 16 per month are given a course then we will definitely pass the 1 year.

Well, we will have to interview again.

Free round trip to Dubai in the 777 business class, isn't that bad.

Well, 150 guys is not a confirmed number, just the rumors over pprune.

And I don't think it really matters how many of them are Boeing experienced. They mentioned long before that the Airbus guys were given priority because of the CCQ into the 330 but nobody said that now they're going priority to Boeing guys.
As someone mentioned before in this thread:

I asked HR what would determine start date assignments. The response was that it would be based strictly on selection date completion- first come, first serve.

I am going to work for the company that gives me a job, in this case THY.
In the other hand, I still have a small chance to be called by EK to start in April - early May. In this case I will leave THY and join EK, simple, isn't it?

Wouldn't you do the same?

Hold Pool Profile

I think the 150 hold pool number is way out there... Unless some has better info than me: think about what we know. We don't have everyone on pprune but we get a profile and seems to be Feb, March, half April and 2 in may. First half of Feb got start dates... That was 16. At that rate they make 32 successful candidates every month. To expand... At 50% success rate that's 64 selections per month total. That's 15/ week and passes the reasonableness test. So... The good news is that the most the may have in the pool is 16 x 2.5 months + 2 in May. That puts my estimate at 42 - 16 hired is 24 remaining. They will hire 16 more for Feb and March then you start turning to pumpkins. Leaving 8 guys getting the shaft. I think holding 42 or 2 - 3 classes makes way more sense. So chin up. May not be as competitive as you think.

well, 2 in May????
As you said, not everyone is using pprune.
Only in the week of May that I was there we successfully passed around 10 to 15 FOs (plus 3 DECs).
Taking March, April and May that makes it 12 weeks x 10 pilots/week...
voila you already have 120 guys.
Then think about the 2 weeks from February plus we save some info about guys who interviewed in June, definitely we must be approaching 150 people, may it be 130 or 160, but close to that.

And, why are you assuming 32 guys/month? In their last email they said that they have given 16 courses for January and that the next courses will be in February, that means that in January they only gave date for 16 guys.

If they keep this numbers only half of the pool will get the job, maybe 3/4.

Edit: all of that is assuming that they were interviewing every week, if they did only twice a month obviously we should be less guys in the pool, don't know if you have some info regarding how many interview weeks they were having every month.

Archer, please stop being so negative .They have explained they don't have space for everyone before the end of the financial year. The guys who interviewed in May and June have until after the end of March. You're right, not everyone will have a job by April, but please have some faith!

The dates given out so far seem to be for the later half of January, for a full month you'd figure that they give out double that number. I interviewed in April and I'm not at all concerned , yet, of course!

Happy flightings.

Excuse me, maybe I've got a different email than you, on mine they say:
16 Boeing courses has been assigned, further courses expected in February for Boeing fleet.
And, according to a colleague writing in this thread he was given a date in EARLY January, a friend of mine got mid January.
So you're assuming that using the second half of January they only gave 16 courses, so, in February using the whole month they will give 32.
I am sorry but reading the info written in this post I get the opposite conclusion which is that they filled the whole month of January with 16 courses, thats it.
If you have a different info I'll be happy to read.

Good luck

I just don't think they are keeping 150 in the pot. I wouldn't think they would interview faster they were hiring. So if the rate of hiring is 16 per month and they pass 50% then 32 FOs per month is the interview rate. Had though that someone said in May it was 2 FOs and 13 DECs. I say 50 max in the pool. Why don't you email and ask them what percentage they estimate will turn to pumpkins? But if you interviewed in May then I would take a Zanex and concentrate on doing your job with THY well. You have lots of time before you're out of the running.

During my assesment, May 28-30, we were 14 DEC's and 2 FO's (a belgian A320 and me B737NG).

Successful: one DEC and two FO.

And during that week no more interviews were held.

And this is a part of an email I got a few days ago...

The number of candidates in the applicant pool does exceed the expected number of new joining pilots this financial year. It is likely that we will not be able to offer all successful candidates a position before April 1st. Given the planned growth we have ahead of us though, our pilot numbers will undoubtedly continue to grow and therefore your desire to remain interested in a position with Emirates is important to us.

Assessed in mid-Feb. Got my letter saying 16 for the January course. Unless I get something either in January or the beginning of February, I'll be going back for re-assessment....it's getting really close boys!
