EK407 - Tailstrike YMML 20 March
they will probably try and sell it to gf for a good discount after a quick bandaid job and lick of paint since gf's in the 777 market now (finally).
and gf would probably like to buy it!

Brassplate,
What have they done to you in GF that you hate it so much?
I suggest if you are out of GF then well think how lucky you are and move on and if you are still with GF then try to get another job somewhere else as soon as possible, we all know there are many things wrong about GF but this is an EK tread not even GF.
You will cut your life short with that much of hatred inside you mate.
All the best

Heard a rumour that the 2 operating pilots will be leaving EK shortly.
They "resigned" before any report from the Australiens safety, doctors, human factors etc.
I smell something rotten

fo4ever......hmm interesting last line, I'm not sure there is anything rotten, it may have something to do with getting provident pay etc. by resigning, rather than be fired and possibly get nothing.
I think the outcome was inevitable anyway... my opinion only.
And as you say it's only a rumour

They were told to go before it got messy, they had NO choice.
Good old ED and EK looking after the pilots.
So they screwed up. There but for the grace of God go we!!! If it wasn't for the crap hours and patterns we fly and the constant abuse that's dished out these sort of things probably would not happen.
This isn't the last time this sort of thing is going to happen either, when you're flying with only TWO pilots from the likes of CPT at night almost 10hrs and all the other long flights with inadequate crew numbers and no crew rest what do you expect?
The ****e in-flight rest we have in both the 777 and the 380 is leading to major fatigue issues, the GCAA here are just useless and the company aren't bothered.
It's time for other countries authorities to step in and ban EK from flying these patterns into their airports until they respect their crews and provide proper rest and crew composition.

Other countries stepping in
Puff whilst I was at EK I spent time hoping that 'other countries' authorities might step in to fill the vacuum that is the GCAA on fatigue and rostering related issues. I wrote some letters to the CAA and the FAA but because of the nature of aviation agreements between regulators they have neither the time or the resources to investigate airlines from other countries. Their remit is to ensure the airlines that they are responsible for are compliant.
If there is change it will have to come from within.

Where is the either the company support or EK pilot support committee? Is there such a thing? Painfully obvious these guys are completely alone... Another black mark for the modern management at EK. Ever heard of a win-win solution such as a disiplinary reprimand? It's happened before - Corrective action, lesson learned, morale in tact, additional training, we all learn and benefit. Guess not...

No we certainly do not have a pilot council at EK. Any meeting of pilots more than the compliment of a ULR flight is considered mutiny.
My strong advice to them was to get independent legal representation as the EK lawyers are primarily looking after EK not the crew involved. I am not sure but I don't think they did get such counsel.
Q: Did they have an 'independent' or a 'company' lawyer present at any of the initial or subsequent interviews? If not why not?
It's Airbus, local authorities &, as we have witnessed, Emirates themselves verses the crew and without any buffer they are easy fodder for all.
NB: Emirates provide a 'company' lawyer in such instances, not one who is charged with protecting his clients interests independently, but the company's interests foremost. In such an incident we must get our own legal representation before we make any statements which will later be used in evidence at an enquiry.
It is a sad incident that will blight the careers of both involved. It will cost them dearly financially and could in some circumstance (not here I hope) lead to criminal charges which have to be fought against. I wish them luck.
We are the weakest link in the chain of any incident or accident, some would say a convenient link, a link which is cynically manipulated by aircraft/engine manufacturers, regulating authorities & airline companies...
