Scary stuff ...

Seems that the predicted incidents have just started. With management at such a dire level, decisions so stupid and uneccessary, simply pi$$ing off and tiring people, it will only get worse.
I feel for the crew, just hoping they didn't sc*w up. But as managements' roulette with working conditions goes through all sectors, the origin of a mistake can be all along the entire operation.
As usual only employees will be blamed, might really be their fault, but the underlying factor of mismanagement will be arrogantly overlooked.

Speculate away, gents, (as we usually do on this site).

The only fact that I can attest to with absolute certainty is that if there are 2150 pilots in EK, there are today 2146 now offering up a silent prayer of thanks to whichever version of the Amighty they pray to, and that their prayer will be along the lines of: "Thank you, thank you, thank you God that it wasn't me."

The JNB Capt was fired, re-hired, downgraded( for a long ), all sorts of retraining to get back to the line as a FO and then a bunch more time before he was upgradedand I think(not sure ) had to do the full upgrade course. Overall not treated with any repect at all !!

The punishment was everything he had to go through, which was a lot. LHS 380 because he paid his dues more way than once.

M5.5-Would you have liked going through what he went through?

And no information whatsoever on our beloved FOIP.
Wouldn't it be apropriate, considering all that pain sharing? If we get some additional VPs, the horse is there right away.
Honestly, I would very much appreciate some unbiased information from the company.

With one of 10 A340-500 now taken out, will it have a knock-on effect on the operations to Australia/New Zealand that are set to increase significantly next week, IIRC?

Has EK a B777-200LR/A340-500 spare or is the fleet of 10 A340-500 / 7 B777-200LR fully committed to daily operations?

There seems to be 2 spare 345s at the moment. So I don't think it will be a problem.

Has anyone information on the real extent of the damadge to the airplane? Can it be repaired or is it going to be a complete write off?

I bet a bunch of confused guys from AB are trying to figure out how to straighten up this banana as we speak...

Thanks. Very Helpful. I'll be SLF to NZ later this week, hence my asking.

A reasonably good source told me it would take about a week to repair, but that was an initial estimate, so who knows

Can't see that it would be even remotely close to a wrie-off. They can fix much worse than that.

they will probably try and sell it to gf for a good discount after a quick bandaid job and lick of paint since gf's in the 777 market now (finally).
and gf would probably like to buy it!
throw in a coupla abandoned luxury cars from the airport to gf's board members, then it's a done deal.
