EGT on EK LAX
I see EGT has managed to get another 1st flight again, 73hrs in LAX. Call me cynical but wouldn't it have been better to put a 'local' i.e. Ameican on it as we used to do for 1st flights
Gee.... and look who his sidekick is as well
I wonder who he brown-nosed this time

This will be some display in LAX! Maybe he will question some ATC instructions there as well ....
At least we will be able to consume some insight to LAX and/or polar operation right from the horses mouth. Information that would have been easily obtainable from guys who have flown in and over these regions many times before. Has any one of such collegues been contacted or asked for some tips?? Gosh - no way, Emirates always knows better, until the next couple of FCIs, who then turn the clock back to professionalism that was readily available among its corps.
It usually takes about a half a year to get EK out of the laughing stock at new destinations. Just about when the more regular guys start getting flights to it.

Okay - here is a different opinion
Before EK started GRU, flight ops invited all Brasilian pilots for their expertise.
We learned of storms of fire, supersonic jet streams and daily +++++++TSRA up to space shuttle flight levels, plus mongoloid ATC. According to the experts every other flight into GRU was doomed. The body count unbelievable.
Ya'Allah! - what did we waste fuel, believing those 'pilots'.
As it stands - GRU is one of the most benign destinations in the network.
The rumour goes that after the Wright Brothers and before EK one or two other airlines have successfully operated in and out of LAX.
My dear 'LA' and 'Polar' experts: If I want to design the perfect diaper, I will not ask the baby.

RFusmoke Noooo.......... SP aka EGT is just a bit of a Tube... sorry make that a complete Tube, and has shown repeatedly that he abuses his position. There have been threads on how he has brought guys careers to a dead stop with his stupid interview questions, YET, he is well known for his screw ups...... If you work for EK go along to his Ivory Palace one day and ask him about Go-arounds

Either way stick to commenting on things you know something about, which should keep you quite quiet.

MrMachFivePointFive, (a pretty apt handle for a management stooge, BTW - a little over half the speed achieved every work day by the pilots you seem so keen to disparage), you've blown your cover so thoroughly with the few posts you've made to date on matters pertaining to EK that I think it's time you asked your boss, JH, if he'll allow you to dispense with your current (too slow?) identity and start again with a fresh 'handle' for your campaign to publicise the company line and tell us all what a cushy job we have.

To the MOD
EGGW.
OK Boss. I agree, the rules are clear, no outing. I only heard the term EGT two days ago and as soon as it was put in context I could see it fit 100% However, somebody has to do the job and if he wants to be H__sans boy then let him be. The odd stint in the limelight (such as a first operation) is the only joy he will get in life. My only experience of him was when he flew as an F.O.with me and he wasn't much good at that.
I do have a problem however with this mrmachfivepointfive character, and I think that you as a moderator should possibly consign his posts to the spotters and dispatchers forums which are this persons areas of expertise. I did a quick search back and have highlighted below some of his or hers more remarkable contributions of late. Mrmachfivepointfive is an EK employee, no doubt (and many of us know who it is) but with posts such as these has no place on a pilots forum.
Pure and utter uninformed bullsh_t that the subsequent ASR proved later that week.
Then this little gem which I was surprised didn't raise a few more hackles.
There are more but that says it all really.Being a mod is not an easy job I well know, especially when you have a job such as ours however it is a responsibility you accepted when you took on the role. In a nutshell. We will keep it nice if you curtail the bullsh_t.

Guys - please get your infos right, or I ll have to book mark pprune under 'spam'.
Uncontained APU failure on takeoff. Debris took out two hydraulic systems plus some air duct plumbing which later on caused the smoke.
The idiot who got injured was a pissed up brit (yeah - I know: stereotype) who despite cabin crew warnings made his way to the loo during takeoff.
After they patched him up and a sobering nap, he claims he wanted to warn crew because he heard 'noises'.

If you love flying, pulling some Gs and taking the crate upside down - forget about becoming a professional pilot. You will be frustrated by the stupidity of the job and your idiot colleagues who are just so full of themselves.
If you are 4'11'', or you have an IQ equal to the room temperature in F but long for the social standing of a heart transplant surgeon in exchange for 1% of the surgeons training - If you also don't mind a very simple machine doing a better job than you and wearing itchy shirts with 'clip on' ties- professional pilot is the job for you.

Any bets on how EGT did on fuel conservation? I'm willing to bet he uploaded fuel. Does that mean he will call himself? Think he wore his flying gloves all the way to LA?

New destination, new route, ULR with chances for inaccurate wind and weather forecast. Would be entirely appropriate to upload some extra fuel. I know exactly what it was and it wasn't too much considering those factors.
We burned 3 tonnes over the plan on the way back. That was mostly due to different winds than forecast plus the wonderful 25 mile final for 30R.

Guys despite a few valid arguments posted in this thread, most are just pure venting on your behalf. LAX might be the 4th busiest airport (aircraft movements) in the world but it is still one of the easiest to operate into (like most other USA destinations - yeah, the yanks got it right!). Now stop your whining and get over it. It's not rocket science. Oh and by the way, for those of you who are going there for the first time - oh look, it's in the OM-C. Imagine that! Spoon fed... come on boys (and girls), find something real to whine about.
