I am operating into LAX next month and I am having trouble trying to sleep. I mean, there hasn't been any pelesys training and it just seems all too hard, new airport, new procedures, new ATC. I have been listening to ATC Live as much as possible but just can't get my head around all this non-standard phraseology. Is there a video I can watch of aircraft landing on Youtube? I have studied all of the photos that were put on the crew portal and am very familiar with what the Control Tower looks like, the Hotspot exit AA 24R, the Taxiway lines, the Runway markings for 7R/25L, the no turn before shoreline sign, the Fuel Dump, stop signs for tow in gates, remote parking gates (good facilities),congested ramp area with ground vehicles, the Fire Station, Gate 101, ground power and air available at all gates, airport perimeter fence and security post and last but not least the airport radar.

The only real hotspot there is when you have to be screened by the TSA... bend over and say ahhhh... (latex snaps in the background). Hey what's that smell...? Hotspot sir, hotspot!!

Good one BR. With TR you seem both made of Chuck's stuff, right on!

However:

- as long as we hear ekboys asking for non standard levels between Lahore and Urumqi, when even the allmighty OM-C says 10min radio silence is possible, plus you change f to m ...
- as long as we read ASRs whining about no contact with Mumbai HF ...
- as long as we hear ekboys desperatly trying for 30min to ask Mogadischu for a 5 mile deviation due WX ...

... I think some kind of route introduction would make sense for the newcomers -> the real meaning of "best practice".

Most certainly though I would exempt you two Chucks from this, you don't need it ...

Now now, don't pick on the DEC's...the FO's they fly with do their best, but some people just can't be taught..."we never had this on the -37 in Arkansas!"...
