Ek TRI position. Good or bad?

So is it a good or a bad decision accepting a position as TRI with Ek? I need to decide . Many guys quiting others accepting...
The idea is to spend more time in Dubai and close to my family instead of getting these S***ty NITS (North Indian Tack System) flights as I've been getting almost every month.
I don't know..maybe you guys already in this position could give some insights.
Tks!

It is a personal choice, The work load is hard but rewarding. It's not for everyone but it does keep you on top of your game. If you give it a go and are willing to put the work in then you may well enjoy some of the challenges. The remuniration is fine and if you find it does not suit you then you can return to the line. Please do not under estimate the amount of effort that is required to be compitent and to continue to offer the best you can to develop guys where they may need your help. If you see it as an opportnity to gain status, or financial gain for little effort then it is not for you. You will be expected to put up with some **** and work hard with adiquate rewards but as always we never stop developing.

DD, mostly agree but the remuneration is not 'fine', it is equal to or below a line pilots pay per month... You work hard for the money and have to put in some extra hours if you want to prepare a good LOS as the charts and plates are a mess and incomplete. You'll get 900 Dhms for transport allowance to get into the sims but this invariably means a second car at more expense. You'll get NO block credit for your initial training or subsequent office days or meetings which they get for free.

It is rewarding but ultimately TRI/TRE is good for the CV which with the way EK is going is the most positive thing I can say about the job.

That's a lot closer to the truth in my view, I've been doing quite a few LOS sims of late and find I've been putting quite a few hrs of my own work into it because the material provided by the company is totally inadequate.

The transport allowance is a joke, why you're not picked up as normal is beyond me.

As for TRE, great if you want to be in DXB in the BOX! and not fly any decent routes, if you look at the bidding each month flights for TRE's are so restrictive.

TRI is about the best of a bad job in this Airline, won't be doing it for long me thinks.

Good luck with your decision Gotyou.

Ek TRI position, Good or Bad?

Thanks guys for your inputs! Definitely it has nothing to do with status or any other kind of things like this. I just want to find a good balance between life-style ( time with my family and time for my hobbies ) and a natural progression of my career as a pilot. As DD well pointed out, the exposure to the training environment and the work required to be well prepared for the sessions, makes you stay always on the top of the game. I have a lot to learn and this is the probably the way to go as learning is for sure one of the things I am looking for.
I believe we will find pros and cons in everything in this world so at the end of the day it will depend a lot on each one’s preferences.
Hopefully the $$ issue will be addressed sooner or later. Anyway I always say that $$ cannot be the reason, it has to be the consequence. But this is just my opinion.
Once again Guys, thanks for your sincere opinions.
Regards!
Gotyou

You're falling for it, they made the line rosters lifestyle worse so you're up for training. Everyone loses, line rosters are going to be shocking and EK don't have to raise the training allowances to attract potential recruits, it's called "cost neutral" - seems to be the only thing someone learnt on his management crash course.

The downside is that we need new guys to join the airline and training, overall a very quick knee jerk reaction. Training will only become a harder job, pro's and cons both ways.
