I have been invited for an interview in May (FO). Has anyone been through the recruitment process as of late? I am looking for up to date information regarding all sections of the interview process. I have read this entire thread from page 1, just looking for anything more current.

Has Qatar started up their 787 training program already, and if so will they recruit directly into the 787 or will it be internal Qatar pilots doing difference training for the 787? Interesting concept if Qatar will hire off the street for these positions. I have heard most DEC are now going to the A-320 and not to the 777 as in the past, even with no Airbus time. Not trying to flame, simply seeking the facts. I understand Qatar has 30 firm orders for 787s and options for another 30 along with future A-350s.

Quick question........ I have a 'friend' who's just joined a UAE based LCC. Things look quite good for the future at his firm. He's also just received an invitation from Qatar for an interview. Am assuming he'd get the 777 as he's already Boeing. Any thoughts whether he should even waste his time going to interview or not? 777 is a nice place (though there's no guarantees that he'll get that!)

sorry no b777
sorry british guy, no guarantee of b777 with boeing experience as last year an intake of experienced b767/b737 guys (even a tre) were promised b777 at interview, started ground school and then the day they were due in b777 sim at LGW were told sorry your now on A320.
so take promises at interview with a pinch of salt and tell your friend stay at his LCC for an easy life.
also there are two a320's parked up due to lack of crew - denied by management

British Guy,
If your mate comes to QR then at least he'll get an A320 rating out of it. He's not going to get that at FD. Dubai is a lot more expensive to live than Doha as well. Life on the A320 at QR isn't bad compared to LCC work. Having done both, I'm of the opinion QR A320 Fleet is better than LCC life, especially in the ME. Plus at QR there's the possibility of a fleet transfer later down the line. He's not going to get that at FD.

It's my guess. You work at the recruitment team or you are nuts.
If you are in the recruitment team, it's a nice tactic. Maybe someone will fall for the trick.
But if you aren't. You should persuade your friends to stay away from QR. Specially from the A320 fleet.

Many are pissed off with coming to this thread only to read negative post from people who are not clever enough to do something about their predicament here in Doha. If you don't like it that much, then they should just leave instead of going on about it. You're not going to change anything here by posting crap on pprune.

Tell your mate, if he comes to Doha, don't believe anything he is told at the interview regarding fleet as it can change at the drop of a hat.
He would be much better coming here and getting an Airbus rating, and then should he decide to leave the Middle East it will stand him in good stead of future recruitment possibilities. Being here at Qatar, you also have the potential to move onto different fleets in the future.
I am 320 fleet and yes the rosters are busy and lots of night flying. If he does not want to do that, then maybe a pilots job is not for him. The aircraft here are clean and well looked after. You're paid on time every month and little chance of being made redundant. You may get sacked for cocking up, but tell me where you would not. Lot's of negative comments on here, but those that are happy can't be arsed coming here and reading the crap from those that do nothing but moan. It's simple, if you don't like it, leave, its his train set.
Do your job, fly the plane, go home and relax.
When it gets to the point your that unhappy and don't enjoy what you are doing, then its simple....you leave! It wont do you any favours to stay.
Many are ok and happy here, but you won't hear much of that as they can't be arsed to read half the crap that gets posted.
People also post on here about management. I am not interested. I go to work, print my paperwork off and fly the aircraft without breaking the law or killing myself or anyone else. Also make sure the guy sat next to me is not going to kill me or anyone else. After that, I go home and if I am off for a few days, and get some beers drank. How hard can it be. Why do people go on as if its the worst place to work.

Guys,
With all due respect. If you just do your job and follow the rules and go home after a flight and relax...Then your job is done pretty much. Lets all go back to enjoying flying.

Telling that most of the people are happy (especially on 320), i think this is really crap.If you are not convinced ..have a chat with the 320 F.M,he is flooded with complains...
I'll come back to you as soon as i'm flying with somebody Happy on the 320 fleet, might take a while..
Enjoy your 320 roster&lifestyle...

Guys, QR does not promise a fleet at the interview. I have no idea how they decide, in my case I was current on the Airbus.
LOC22550, I have finally received my results, we'll catch up in DOH mate.........I've been assigned on the 777 fleet.

Also notice how it's the same bunch of about 10 guys who are always complaining....
These guys probably cannot get jobs anywhere else with their disgruntle attitudes and hence the reason that some of them have been here for almost 10 years, if not more.
Job satisfaction should be the most important thing for everybody. I cannot see myself being so miserable and continuing doing it day in day out. Just a question to all the people who are complaining... Why are you still here? Have you spoken to anyone about it rather than posting your frustrations on PPRuNe?
