Question EK Safety Boss Resigns?

Rumours abound that one of the safety bosses has just pulled the pin. Anybody heard any facts?

Interesting if true. The whole ASR system is in a complete mess. Many crew will now never file an ASR if they don't have to, why get grief if you don't have to???
Just look at the way the 12R 777 was handled or many other recent incidents

I am all for those who grossly violate the FOM being brought in for a chat shall we say. But disciplinaries or demotions for minor errors or mistakes It creates a bad atmosphere within the EK pilot community, a system of rule by fear, not condusive in my opinion to a safe airline!

What happened BTW to that Himilayas ASR??? I haven't seen it on the weekly digest. Anyone ???

ASRs

I filed two Fatigue related ASRs, one in July and the other in August. Neither have been reported to us in the emailed summary. On one occasion I was medically deemed unfit to fly due fatigue. On three occassions I have asked for a reply to my comments on the back of the voyage report. No replies have ever been received. On one occasion, back in June, I asked for information from the fleet admin girl, guess what? No reply. I found out the information I needed via an independant source.

I applied for a job last week, I had a reply within four days, and invited for an interview next month. If successful I will go. The company informs me that they currently have over 40 applications from Emirates pilots on file.

The lies, the selective statistics, the ever changing conditions, Dubai, the traffic, the salary level in an ever more expensive place, the insecurity I feel when I have an incident requiring an ASR, and so on.

I would always have preferred to stay and they could so easily have made things better. The airline and its conditions and working environment always compensated for the bad side of Dubai. Now I have now had enough of this place, so will you all please wish me good luck at my interview, I know that I will see at least one of you there!

I wish you all the luck you need and hoepfully we will meet eachother once....

Regarding ASRs on fatigue, it is my opinion that all over this regions fatigue is not taken seriously. In all the middle eastern carriers, GF/QR/EK/EY , long haul pilots fly their pants off.

Crossing timezones without limitations, minimum rests because " not acclimatised" according the book, 100hrs a month at FL410 etc...

If then we file an ASR due to fatigue the company panics.

The problem is that an ASR needs an investigation, an official reply and....and ASR has to be kept on file legally for a long period of time. All ASR will be examined in case of an accident/incident and isnurance companies just love to find any pattern in years of ASRs, hoping to blame the company on bases of neglect.

That is why I am 100% sure that in all "our" shiny companies ASR on fatigue are conveniently transformed into PVRs. A PVR does not need investigation, official reply etc and only serves for the company internally. PVR will not be checked in case of disaster.

I think that answers your question on no answer on ASRs, no trace of themin the monthly summaries etc....They officially do not exist!!!

That is why all of us should take copies of all ASRs you write si in case of no answer you at least have some proof.
Maybe you do take copies, all I know is that I see a lot of the colleagues around me who do not have that habbit.

Once more....good luck with the job pursuit....Many more will follow you
