Well that's that. Digital interview submitted. Sounded very nervous and may have repeated myself a few times but hope the suit was enough to impress them! Best of luck to the rest of you applying!

Hi all, I got through to the assessment centre last year, around the final 160 people, and I’m not applying this year so thought I’d share some advice from my experience. However, they could have updated the application so please take with a pinch of salt.

From memory the application went: Initial application > online tests > digital interview > assessment centre > sim

The hardest bit by far of the whole application was the online tests. I believe they use a company called ‘Sova’ and there are some example questions online. The abstract reasoning and numerical reasoning were very tough I found, and the only way to get good is to just practice similar tests. You get to notice patterns and styles of questions once you do enough practice.

For any interview I think there are 4 main things to research:
  1. What are the pilot competencies, what example do you have of you being good at this competency, and how can you quickly break down an interview question and link it to a competency
  2. What is TUIs business strategy and how do you fit into that as a pilot. You’re not just there to fly planes, you’re essentially working as a team to provide great customer service - have a read through their annual report
  3. What are TUIs values, how do you show you exhibit these values and that you’re a good fit for the company. E.g. are you always really inclusive of other people and always make sure to do this at work, are you passionate about customer service and going the extra mile
  4. Why do you want to be a pilot and why at TUI. This gets asked at every single scheme. Why do you want to do this, what research have you done and how do you show a passion for aviation, and why in particular do you want to do it for TUI. If you just say because it’s been my dream since a kid, they’re not going to pick you. It’s a good start, but what do you do in your life that showcases love for aviation and why do you think TUI are so great

There were maths tests online and on the assessment day, useful topics to brush up on: rearranging formulas, plug and chug algebra , ratios, angles, areas, percentage changes - again could be different but these would all be useful.

If you get as far as the assessment centre, there was an in person maths exercise part calculator part no calculator, there was a case study which you had to prep for beforehand, a group exercise, and a competency interview. The staff there were all really great and make you feel as relaxed as possible.

Hopefully that is helpful for your own preparation. Again, can’t stress enough about the online tests that you need to practice practice practice.

Thanks for posting that. It’s very useful in my application process. Better practice practice practice 😂👍

Hey all,
First of all good luck to everyone! :)

I just did my 3 tests and waiting for results. Just out of curiosity, has anyone managed to do all the 3 tests within the allotted time? I found 15 mins nowhere near enough for some of the modules.

Got my test scores for the online tests. Average in numerical and verbal and above average in logical. This was apparently good enough for me to progress to digital interview automatically. No waiting required.

Really? That’s so weird.. I got the exact same scores and got rejected

I think its going on a combo of what the system pulls from the CV and the test questions, but from what I am reading on the assessment email, it goes on both your scoring and the time it takes you to achieve said score, if you get the above average in terms of correct questions that's brilliant, but if you took the whole 15 minutes that goes against you, I think its looking at if you can hit avg or above avg in a slightly shorter time span to see how decisive you are in terms of reasoning and taking action.

Just to chime in with my results:

Logical reasoning - average
Verbal reasoning - average
Numerical reasoning - above average

Time taken must be a massive factor, as I got through all 3 fairly quickly. I did take a fair bit longer to get going on the logical reasoning.

Cameron235 19th January 2025 14:38

I don't think time is the major factor more so the results, I got average across all 3 taking about 30 minutes on each one and still passed, so it's probably just a combination of both with it leaned further to results than time.

interesting, I got above average for the numerical and verbal, and spent around 10 minutes for both then spent about 30 mins on the logical and got average. Do they take into account what you put in the about me bit?

Hi! I'd love to joint the whatsapp group but I am not able to message you since I don't have enough post. Can you write to me?

Hi guys. Just a heads up, I have received a rejection email after completing the digital interviews on Monday. Above average in all reasoning tests so not sure if it was my CV or the interview responses that didn’t resonate with them. Was surprised to receive a response so soon, given they mentioned end of march. The very best of luck to those who make it through to the assessment centre!

In all honesty very shocked by this, especially given the applications still haven’t closed but it shows they really are filtering through from the get go to make sure they meet the deadlines they’ve set out for themselves, best of luck to all those that are still in the process and for those unsuccessful, BA opens in a few weeks so more opportunities over there

Did anyone else complete the digital interview and get rejected?

ele.disilvio 24th January 2025 13:28

Do anyone know if the cover letter is a required document? Because today I did the digital interview and realised I didn't upload any additional document besides the CV

There is no requirement for a cover letter and pretty sure they said that they don't need it.

Foxy1715 25th January 2025 19:03

I have heard nothing back yet, I expected no communication until the end of March as per their emails.

Just got an email saying I was rejected

Cruxy 27th January 2025 15:43

Heya I'd like to ask, if I do fail these online assessments am I allowed to re-apply at the same period... or even with a different email if I must?
