Good luck to everyone!

Yep just the long wait now!

Got my test scores for the online tests. Average in numerical and verbal and above average in logical. This was apparently good enough for me to progress to digital interview automatically. No waiting required.

Hi everyone…
I’m just prepping for my digital interview, could I ask how many questions are involved please?

Many Thanks…
Good Luck to All!!!

Just got my digital interview invite! Was not feeling confident but here we go!

Failed at the first hurdle... I assume they wanted above average in all tests. Out of interest, what did people get. I got average for the logical reasoning, which I found really difficult, and above average for the other two. How did people practise for logical reasoning? It was much harder than any I've done before...

AviatorDan 13th January 2025 05:46

Interesting so from my observation it seems getting above average for logical reasoning will send you to the next stage. To be honest I didn't practice for any of the tests 😂 but I found them all okay. Somehow I got above average for logical reasoning.

MarkBaum 13th January 2025 11:21

Is this the only Tui thread that people are using or is there a different one?

I got Above average in Logical then average for other two and passed. I used the Sova practice tests and an website called 'Assessment day'. And the reason you may have failed with better results is because I think it doesn't take into account the time taken and if you take too long it could cause you to fail.

I did the Sova tests but haven't heard of Assessment day. Thanks! I'll give it another go next year. That could be it. The maths and verbal I took around 10 minutes each, but I definitely went over 15 minutes by a fair bit for the logical.

Hey guys, I just did the assessments for the TUI scheme. I got rejected, but did anyone else here find the maths assessment really difficult? I did the one for the BA scheme last year and found it really easy, but found that this one didn't give adequate data to use interpret, and some of the questions didn't properly link with the data. Did anyone else find this? It's probably me, but it was a lot harder than the BA assessment last year! Thanks

vivii 14th January 2025 19:23

Hii, i've finally reached the age to apply and i was planning on doing the tests tomorrow. I just wanted to know if anyone that got through could tell me how long they took to complete the tests so i can figure out a time to do them. Thank you!

In the brief for the three tests it quotes about 15 minutes for each. You can do one at a time also.

I definitely found the maths one trickier than the Speedbird one. What really threw me was the Logical Reasoning. I was surprised at how difficult I found that. I would recommend potential applicants swot up on this.

Assessment Scoring

Hello all!

Just wanting to enquire what people are generally scoring. I've been given the rejection and scored 2 Above Averages, and an Average. Is this normal? Are they looking for Above Average in all 3? Just wondering what different people have had as there seems to be a fair amount of people reaching the DI stage?

Regards,
Charlie

I got through with 2 above averages, in Numerical and Verbal, and average in Logical. It’s impossible to know what they’re looking for, but it could be an overall score of all 3 tests, or perhaps CV is taken into account too.
I’ve also seen people get through with 1 above average, so it could be that if you score ridiculously high in just 1 test you get through as your average across all 3 is higher as a result (although I haven’t heard of any below averages getting accepted).
Of course no way to know for sure, but a few things I’ve considered regardless.

From what I’ve read it seems you only needed 1Above average but that needed to be in Logical Reasoning so I’m guessing that has the most weighting, but I guess the only people that really know the answer would be TUI

YousefThePilot 15th January 2025 19:17

Absolutely butchered that Interview

Its also based on how long you take although it says its untimed many have suggested that it plays a part in your score.
But i guess who knows lol

Hi all, I got through to the assessment centre last year, around the final 160 people, and I’m not applying this year so thought I’d share some advice from my experience. However, they could have updated the application so please take with a pinch of salt.

From memory the application went: Initial application > online tests > digital interview > assessment centre > sim

The hardest bit by far of the whole application was the online tests. I believe they use a company called ‘Sova’ and there are some example questions online. The abstract reasoning and numerical reasoning were very tough I found, and the only way to get good is to just practice similar tests. You get to notice patterns and styles of questions once you do enough practice.

For any interview I think there are 4 main things to research:
  1. What are the pilot competencies, what example do you have of you being good at this competency, and how can you quickly break down an interview question and link it to a competency
  2. What is TUIs business strategy and how do you fit into that as a pilot. You’re not just there to fly planes, you’re essentially working as a team to provide great customer service - have a read through their annual report
  3. What are TUIs values, how do you show you exhibit these values and that you’re a good fit for the company. E.g. are you always really inclusive of other people and always make sure to do this at work, are you passionate about customer service and going the extra mile
  4. Why do you want to be a pilot and why at TUI. This gets asked at every single scheme. Why do you want to do this, what research have you done and how do you show a passion for aviation, and why in particular do you want to do it for TUI. If you just say because it’s been my dream since a kid, they’re not going to pick you. It’s a good start, but what do you do in your life that showcases love for aviation and why do you think TUI are so great

There were maths tests online and on the assessment day, useful topics to brush up on: rearranging formulas, plug and chug algebra , ratios, angles, areas, percentage changes - again could be different but these would all be useful.

If you get as far as the assessment centre, there was an in person maths exercise part calculator part no calculator, there was a case study which you had to prep for beforehand, a group exercise, and a competency interview. The staff there were all really great and make you feel as relaxed as possible.

Hopefully that is helpful for your own preparation. Again, can’t stress enough about the online tests that you need to practice practice practice.
