Howdy all,

All is gone quiet on the western front!

Been in the ATP holdpool for approx 2 years now. Am curious to know if anybody has been offered anything else in the last couple of months besides the Cathay deal?

With regards to Cathay, may I ask if anybody has heard back from 1st interview yet?

Best regards

Dangerman12 2nd Jul 2011 19:57

Hey bud,

Yeah I got through the first stage. Off to Hong Kong on the 21st. For your information I heard back from them a week and a half ago. Apart from the Cathay interview, I haven't heard a peep from CTC. All is most definitely quiet on the western front ;)

cerealkiller 3rd Jul 2011 02:59

Hey guys,
do you know if there is kind of a faster route from ctc to cathay?
I know with easyjet things are really slow, just wonder if it is faster to have an interview with cathay since a lot of people doesn't accept their condition.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Dangerman12 3rd Jul 2011 10:25

Mate, the fastest route to Cathay is by going online and applying through their website. Apparently they are looking for A LOT of SO's so don't waste time and just apply.

cerealkiller 3rd Jul 2011 13:34

Thanks for the hint mate, I already applied few months ago through the website but never got a reply.

That's why I was asking if there is a second option.

Looks like a lot of people went for the interview but didn't accept the contract. At least I would like to have the chance of going for the interview.

Again, any help on that would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Dangerman12,

Well done matey. Fingers crossed I'll see you there. They asked me for some extra info regarding some medical history so waiting to hear back now.

CerealKiller, I can't really advise which route is fastest but if you read back through this forum a few pages you will see that one fellow applied directly and got called in a very short space of time (couple of weeks I think). I would hang tough if you've already applied unless you want to part with the bones of 7K for a 'possibility' with CTC. Having said that they have obviously worked their magic with the waiting time as those in the holdpool got called for interview within a couple of weeks of applying through them. Good luck with it anyway.

maverick_supersonic 3rd Jul 2011 17:07

The fastest way to get a CX interview would be through their web application. The option through CTC is only for those who already have completed AQC and are already in the hold pool (or at leat that is what I was told). So, if you haven't applied with CTC yet, or have but haven't attended the assessment day or AQC, and you're interested in the CX SO position apply with them directly. You'll save a lot of time and money.

cerealkiller 3rd Jul 2011 17:54

Thank you guys for all those info.

I'll force myself to keep waiting and see what happens next. If nothing moves, I'll probably start looking for an alternative option, might be the CTC thing.

I tried to update my application with CX, since I flew some hours recently, but the page doesn't work: every time I put my user and password it gives me an error saying to try again later or send an email to a certain address. I tried several times in different week but got always the same problem, so I wrote an email asking for help but of course no reply.

I could try give 'em a call in the next days.

Cheers

Easyjet Flexicrew

I keep hearing positive things about easyjet (recruitment wise), however it seems very quiet within the CTC holding pool. Does anybody know when easyjet will start taking cadets/ATP from the pool again? I have heard possibly Sept/Oct. Thanks in advance.

oOjorelOo 4th Jul 2011 20:45

Dear fellow pilots,

I would like to get in touch with some pilots, that either have been to step2/step3 at CTC or are going there, with English as their native tongue. Please pm me for contact information.

oOjorelOo 4th Jul 2011 22:59

Hmm, are there more companies one can apply directly to, rather than buying the CTC ATP programme? I guess the real question is: which companies are currently recruiting? :-)

bananaman2 5th Jul 2011 09:26

cerealkiller...

I applied to the Cathay cadet scheme over a year ago... and am yet to receive a reply.

logged into my application a couple of times and says still being processed... also emailed the recruitment team and they said a similar thing, claiming it's because it takes longer as i'm based in the UK. It appears they are interviewing in London as we speak actually - so I don't believe this to be true and presume they're not interested. SO applications seem to be linked to the Cadet applications also as I can't apply to the SO scheme (at least under the same name and email address). I'm also wondering if it's because of my age (32), I see you're over 30 also? - but i've seen evidence that this shouldn't be a problem, so who knows!

Back a little more in line with the thread... interesting to see how things are working out for you ATP'ers. I was offered a place on the ATP scheme, early 2009 and wasn't convinced (and neither had 7k to spare at the time). CTC (and Oxford a bit) seem to have a monopoly with Easyjet, which perhaps looks promising for you folks but thus far seems to be only cadets (and perhaps the odd ATP'er) getting placed.

Hang in there and all the best.

cerealkiller 5th Jul 2011 10:11

Thanks for sharing Bananaman, you're right, I'm 33 and guess this is the reason why even Ryan air is not taking into account my application.

Regarding CTC, I probably should have enrolled a couple years ago, when I was back from my training and might be now I'd be shortlisted. Who knows.

Cheers

I am in your same situation, over 30 and politely refused by Mr. Chris Woollard Co-ordinator - Graduate Skills and Support of Oxford Aviation Academy, without a plausible explanation, as I had the same requirements of my two colleagues called for the selection last month.
People who apply to Ryanair for self sponsored type rating are all Frozen ATPL with approximately 200 flight hours, so, I really want to know what criteria they use to select the pilots already through the application form, Age, Nationality, Icao level...?
Don't tell me flight hours, please, we all know that is not true!!!:ugh:

Thank you for your recent application for a position on the Ryanair Boeing 737-800 type-rating programme with Oxford Aviation Academy.

We regret to inform you that your application will not proceed to the next stage in the selection process for the Boeing 737-800 type-rating programme. Due to the large number of applications received on a weekly basis, unfortunately it is not possible to provide feedback regarding your application.

For other programmes conducted by OAA please see our website at www.oaa.com.

On behalf of the airline, we would like to thank you for your interest in this programme and wish you every success in the future.

Many thanks

Chris.

Coming back to talk about the topic CTC ATP.
I'm still waiting to book an assessment, there are no news about people that have been calls recently to start a type rating, there is nobody here who has written that he was contacted by the holding pool. Everything seems in place by a couple of years, you will correct me if I wrong..
There will always be cadets that CTC will place in its companies, especially in Easyjet, they write it clear in the mail that you receive when you are invited to book an assessment day for the selections for the AQC.:(
I pray someone who has attended an assessment day or which has recently participated in the course AQC to release any comment or report some latest news. 8000 pounds not pennies... to wait for two years minimum! I do not know, too many questions ..
Anyone who knows if you can apply for the CTC program FlexiCrew without having a type rating and a few hours of experience?
We are the usual issues, no company is taking no experience pilots ..

Cheers

cerealkiller 6th Jul 2011 08:23

Tekor Bali, I don't really know which situation is worse, yours or mine.
This is the only reply I got from OAA, on March 24th:

Thank you for your application to join the OAA/Ryanair Self Sponsored Programme. We will be in contact once your application has been reviewed.

So I don't know if they will ever take a look at my application or it will be there forever. The same of course regarding CAE.
It's obvious that they're not calling everybody but "at least" you know now that you have not to wait for OAA.

Talking about CTC: a lot of people in the aviation market is saying that in the very next future pilot hiring will increase really fast, so might be going for the AQC could be useful. The problem is always the same, who knows.

Cheers

Age limit at RYR

I recently talked with someone from RYR and they confirmed they have an internal recruitment policy of not hiring over 30's.....illegal...but try proving it..:{

Mohit_C 7th Jul 2011 07:25

Well Phase 2 dates are once again available. Anyone going to one of these any time soon? Are they predicting any recruitment in large numbers?

Tekor Bali 7th Jul 2011 11:11

Ok, back on topic.
No news, place available for assessment..
I can not find information, anyone who talks about his experience after being called. In fact, really, we do not know if anyone has ever been called. No direct reporting!

hiremeplease 7th Jul 2011 11:45

I have heard easyjet flexicrew will recruit in October time from CTC. On the other hand, I have also heard more promising news that it could be August/September. Going on the fact that CTC have gone very quiet for the last couple of months, I don't know how realistic these dates are. If anybody has some more concrete information in regards to dates, cadets/ATPers required then that would be most appreciated.

captainsuperstorm 7th Jul 2011 12:29

read this:and it s everywhere the same, you think you are alone in this world??? for 1 job, you have 500 pilots who apply, 500!!! so where do you stand with your pocket filled with money! do something else, and stay away from aviation for a few years.
