Sorry to hear about that M_S but unless you have 1000hrs + then I don't think you'll get far applying to them directly. It looks like a fantastic opportunity, one that you would not get at Easyjet! Think about it and try to find some travel money to get here for it. Just my opinion but you might regret it if you don't.

maverick_supersonic 6th Apr 2011 19:23

A few months ago you could apply for SFO position with less than 1000 hrs. I have a friend who did & made it all the way. Yes it is a great opportunity and the name of the airline speaks for itself, but remember, nothing is guaranteed. You will have to do a few exams plus an interview, so its all up to you and your capacities. If I had the money to spend sure, I'ed give it a go.

Good luck DM12

By CTC:

"CTC Wings
‎164 pilots placed since January this year with Monarch, easyJet, easyJet Suisse and DHL. 2011 is looking like it will be another record breaking year...."

Whichever way you see this, it is definitely good news!

Mintflavour 8th Apr 2011 11:24

However, how many are permanent contracts????? what percentage of those guys will be flying through the winter or have an income in the winter.

All I can say is be carefull with those figures CTC give out, They are good at positive spin.

Good luck guys.

maverick_supersonic 9th Apr 2011 11:43

From what a hear a lot get permanent contracts. Surely they get the after a few seasons on Flexi. Better than not being employed and a lot better than having to PAY to fly :=:=

maverick_supersonic 10th Apr 2011 22:26

"+160 pilots since Jan. 2011" - That has to be a big piece of the cake.
Define looooong time.

maverick_supersonic 11th Apr 2011 09:32

Fair observation.

Just looking back at your previous posts. Last year May you mentioned you were low twenties in the pool. I did my AQC after than and am now in the low twenties. Surely you can't be in the same position, which means, even though at a slow rate, the ATP pool is moving.

Dangerman12 11th Apr 2011 09:37

One of the pilots I fly with has a good friend who was in the ATP pool until recently. Apparently he has just been snapped out of it....

Dangerman12 11th Apr 2011 09:38

P.S I have been in the pool for less than 12 months and I'm in the low tewnties :hmm:

maverick_supersonic 11th Apr 2011 10:51

Before paying for the rather expensive AQC I knew that it would be a long wait and CTC always made it clear that they would only get guys from the ATP pool if there are no Cadets available. I was prepared to wait up to 2 years. Nearly reaching mid-point. I'm just glad to see that the pool hasn't completely stopped. That every now and then an ATP is fetched to do TR and more ATPs are joining the list. Yes, you could argue that it's just another way for them to make money, but still...

The way things are running out there, I still think this is a great opportunity. Have just hang in there, I guess....

maverick_supersonic 11th Apr 2011 11:45

Single digits! That's good news, for you and for the rest of us. Personally I found it difficult to believe them telling us that they wouldn't need any ATPs when we were still in the 1st quarter of the year and especially the way things are moving with some of their partner airlines. Just think of it this way; the wait won't be as long as it's been up until now.

Did anyone end up getting a Cathay interview???

costas1979 9th May 2011 14:15

Can anybody confirm with me if I need to be current in IRME to be able to apply to the ATP course?

Regards

fisherlawrence 10th May 2011 00:08

costas1979, I asked CTC that exact question, their response was "order to meet the selection criteria for the ATP programme you have to have a current instrument rating and Class 1".

Sciolistes 10th May 2011 04:08

and apart of a very slim chance for the initial interview for sco with cathay there is nothing left for this year to hope for.
Speaking as an ex ATPer, you cannot really predict how, what and when. I believe you're in the right place for a proper career opportunity. If my experience is anything to go by, expect the unexptected!

maverick_supersonic 10th May 2011 11:47

Sciolistes, good to see someone spread some good news for a change. How long did you wait in the pool and how long ago were you called? if you don't mind me asking.

Tekor Bali 13th May 2011 15:03

Any news for the ATP scheme?
Someone has been called?
What should I expect in the selection process for the AQC?
How much and how long the course AQC?
Examinations during the course?
Do you think could be a good opportunities?
thanks for all the information

Coffin Corner 13th May 2011 15:14

I heard a CTC skygod has written off a £55m Easy Airbus on the 2nd day of line training, and that the insurance company has said "no more CTC after the current batch has gone through (September I hear)". Any truth in this rumour?

Tekor Bali 13th May 2011 17:48

coffin

coffin corner, please, could you tell me more?

I was invited to the selection for the AQC, and I want to understand as much as possible on this topic.
Could you explain this story?
Is there anyone here in the forum called to start the type rating?

Highland Kilt 13th May 2011 18:41

Sounds like a load of horse sh*t to me. If Easy had just had an Airbus written off I think the Rumours & News forum would be have a field day!
