A couple of things: 1)To say you screwed one section of the CPL suggests you still passed on Series 1 (though second attempt). Is that the case? Did you fill the form in correcttly. Or perhaps you screwed the same section twice... dunnow. 2) There's no harm in writing to someone at CTC explaining what happened if you feel you can justify yourself somehow. A show of determination and focus can work wonders. (This may be a moot point at the moment, however, as ATP application is temporarily closed). Whatever happens, all the best - there are other opportunities out there. |
Does anybody know what the success rate is of people passing the CTC ATP selection?
I have counted all the users who contributed to this thread and who have succeeded and who have failed. TOTAL 34 PASS 18 FAIL 5 Unknown 11 According to these figures more then 50% succeeds.... is this accurate??? |

If you screwed 1 part of the CPL wouldn't that give you a partial, which if the second attempt is passed would give you a first series pass??:confused: |

I screwed one section one time. I did a flight of 2h55 the first time where I failed in section 4. I did only that section one time again (1h15 of flight) and I got my CPL. Now, I don't know if they consider that as a first or a second series pass :ugh:. I receved a mail 2 weeks ago from CTC asking me if I got my CPL/IR in a first or second series pass. I answered that I got my IR at the first attempt and my CPL at the second (I failed one section). I Dont know if they have considered (I failed one section) :confused: . I shoud write them an E-mail and clarify that. Guys, thank you again ;) |
Thunderbird, I hope I have understood correctly but it seems that you have a First Series pass in your CPL!
You are allowed a second attempt at your first 'series' if you fail one section in your first attempt. If you only failed Section 4 and then had to do just that bit again and passed it then you have a first series pass. (If you had failed that retest then you would have to do the whole test again in your Second Series). If that is the case then contact CTC explaining that you misunderstood and that you do have a First Series pass in both CPL and IR. |

Update!! Pools getting crowded
Hi guys,
Heres a quick update with whats going on. On-line application closed for a good few months as the hold pool fills up. The main reason behind this is that all AQC's are now well and truly filled up until Jan/Feb next year. Selection is now going to be extremly tough due to only 15-20 bodies needed to complete the pool (30-34 in at the mo) with some 80+ applications still in the system for selection. With around only 17% filtered out at phase 1, a good percentage will be filtered at phases 2/3 (not sure of figures). With the 100% pass mark at phase 4 (through tougher selection at 2/3) you are well on your way to that shiny new plane ;) ;) ;) |

With around only 17% filtered out at phase 1, ..." Letīs say there are 90 applications on file. After review, for phase two there will only be around 77. 77 people for 15-20 positions is not too bad. I have known much more difficult ones. (30 positions for 1500 applications etc...) Well, it is a same that now that I have just applied things are getting EVEN more difficult, but.... cesīt la vie! good luck everyone, and keep trying the hardest you can! |

I was looking at the CTC website and I was wondering if it's possible to do a jet orientation course or a TR with CTC in private, by is own... Or all the training is reserved for airline clients and the Wings program??? Just curious... Thanks |

CTC ATP Route Good Thing?????

Would be very grateful if you kind and knowledgeable souls out there could answer a few questions and bridge my knowledge gap! As an ex-Naval Officer at the age of 33 who has been flying since he was 17 (RAF Scholarship then 4 years in flying training in Navy, PPL since 2003) If i bagged the entry quals for the CTC ATP route (CPL/MEIR) in quick order at a cheap school (poss that new one in Greece - Egnatia I think it's called or some other school that isn't Cabair or OAT) and had around 100 hours P1 and 250TT would I have a good chance of getting on the CTC ATP scheme? What are the pro's and con's of the scheme and has anybody out there landed a job since completeing the scheme?? Would be very interested to hear your stories/tap your knowledge. As you say, there are hundreds of posts on CTC already. I'd be concerned that you wouldn't be able to get everything passed before your 34th birthday. How long is that? It's probably worth speaking to CTC to find out when they intend on re-opening the ATP route (currently closed because the hold pool has loads of people in it).
Also consider that there are integrated schools out there which have a very high number of students that go straight into the airlines. You should consider what you do if you fail the CTC selection process. How many get jobs? as far as I know everyone that has got through the selection process, type rating and line training have been given full time contract. Many people don't make it through the selection process and I've heard that a couple have been kicked out during type rating or line training as they could not reach the required standard. |

Sky Wave - I am 31 at the moment but am envisaging starting the CPL/MEIR in the next two years and hence will be ready to apply for the ATP scheme in 2008 / 2009 when I turn 33. I have just applied to the scheme. Got e-mail saying my written questions have been received. So busy preparring and hoping for stage 2. Can I ask what is the level of dificulty of the maths test. Is it basic arithmetic or is there quadratics, trig, etc etc. Also interested to hear how anyone felt about the PILAPT tests? I know you cant prepare but I am just interested.

Jimmie - just some simple second order differential equations, a fourier transform and a couple of two-page proofs involving cubics, regression analysis and laplace transforms.
Only kidding. Some simple fractions, some questions on time/ speed/ distance. Percentages, ratios, addition, long division, long mult. In short, nothing too taxing if you are competent to GCSE level. Try http://www.epst.com/com/ipas.htm too for the aptitude tests. Not vastly different from Pilapt and it at least gives you some idea... |
