Can anyone advise if BA (who recently signed up to take pilots from CTC) will take people from the ATP scheme or those only who have been trained all the way through with CTC from 0 hours?
If any of the guys who were at Britsol in February read this, hello. What about that Met exam?Bloody evil. Stephen |
I wouldn't expect the questions to be the same on the ATP now as CTC are aware of prune; therefore many processes have or are changing.
All the available info could now make the application harder! yyz |
Sorry I'm now lost YYZ, are you advocating us all not posting anything at all on these boards for fear that they may change their criteria? If so, my only response can be . . . Jesus wept.
Surely the whole point of a forum is to discuss the stuff that before the internet came into being, was unavailable to us. Granted its a Catch 22 but do we do everything by PM? If so whats to stop the head of training at ABC school creating a fake profile and getting info. I know of one school in particular which does this. I have no desire to meet felow PPRuNer's in the local park, exchanging briefcases with the alias 'Orange Badger'. As for making the tests harder, well bring it on. Anyone who goes into any interview for that first job unprepared deserves to find a rejection letter in the post. Armed with a CPL/IR, ATPL writtens done and a few days going over company history, basics, formulas, symbology, terminology and abbreviations beforehand should be more than enough and not beyond the capacity of anyone who has attained these qualifications. The outline provided here should not be used by anyone for anything other than to gauge the approximate level and areas of questioning. Whats the worst that can happen? They change 'What does MORA mean' to 'what indicates perfect glideslope on a 3 colour VASI?' If any of us were to get that wrong after getting a sniff at a jet job then there can be no excuses. Now for fear of drifting off topic, anyone got any news on the BA hook up with repsect to ATP peeps? I would imagine that BA would possibly want (what they may percieve as) some continuity in recruit training. |
Hey, read into the post what you will.
I agree with you though, the web is a useful tool to exchange info, however, this could be a pointless exercise in this case, as the info posted is then void as CTC adjust/change questions/processes. Just pointing out the obvious really... YYZ |
CTC ATP Phase 2 31 March
Is there anybody that is through phase 2 the 31 March at Bournemouth training centre? Why there if usually they select people at Southampton training centre? I was wondering if anyone knows what to expect, there is a computer based aptitude test and a numeracy test.
Very welcome to any help. Thanks.;) |

Hi pprune'rs
I appreciate this question has been asked several times already. However I understand the selection for phase two may have changed recently, so I'm wondering if anyone could send me some information regarding what's asked or tested on phase two now! Any info gratefully received :D |
Phase 2
Hey fellas!
If anyone has any information on the new phase 2 at CTC please send it to me. My application is going to CTC this week... Thank's! :D |
Hello, where the ATP selection process take place??? Dibden, nursling or bournemouth? Thank you in advance ;)
|
I guess Bournemouth!
cheers!!! |
It seems that the ATP and the CADET Phase 2 selection has been combined meaning ATP candidates have to sit the PILAPT tests. I believe it also means that the 30 questions regarding aviation have gone.
Can anyone confirm this? I would also appreciate the latest information if anyone could PM me. I am attending Phase 2 soon. Thanks SW |
End of the day kids, you pay for your training whatever way you look at it. There's no way this can be described as sponsorship or an airline paying for some of your training, BUT , it does provide you, assuming you're successful, with a rapid route to the right hand seat of a jet. And yes those training costs are recouped via your wages early on.
The AQC is an excellent course, 1 week MCC, 1 week CRM/groundschool plus an added few days of manual flying skills in the sim. It is a lot of money, but then if you're successful you get a job out of it, or at least 6 months line flying with an airline and being paid. I don't know anybody who didn't get taken on after the 6 months unless they're were only on a temporary contract to begin with ( i.e usually charter ops ). It's hard work but really enjoyable, most of the guys on my course had mcc's before applying, some didn't and almost all got through. I would say it doesn't matter if you have an mcc or not before applying as long as you come into it with the right attitude having done some research on multi crew ops. good luck to anyone going for it! The selection takes place at Dibden, which is in the New Forest near Southampton...
I have a question now: I got binned at stage 2 last year. Since then, CTC have changed the ATP scheme (merge with Wings etc etc) and gone on-line for part of the application. On my original application, it said that you could only apply to this scheme once. From the current on-line form, that no longer appears to be the case. Q: Has anyone applied to ATP more than once? If so, did you get stage 2 again? I see also that they now charge for stage 2 - how times change in 8 months... |

CTC ATP Stage Two
Hi all,
Just found out today im off to stage two in three weeks. now the panic sets in *LOL* I read that the 30 aviation questions are not included in phase two was this the old tech exam? Any information relating to current stage two structure or the other stages would be gratefuly recieved feel free to PM. Thanx in advance Ben (v.Hopeful) |
They do not charge for the ATP stages, they do charge the wings scheme though...
For the ATP you only pay once accepted onto the posh MCC. YYZ |
YYZ
Your information is old. As I said I believe both the Cadet and ATP selection process for Stages 1, 2 and 3 have been merged. Unfortunately since my post on 28th March nobody with recent experience has posted to confirm this. What I do know is that I am an ATP candidate and I do have to pay £164.50 to attend stage 2 which is to be held at Bournemouth. If anyone could confirm that stage 2 is now just, introductions, 15 maths questions in 15 minutes and PILAPT tests for both Cadets and ATP I and probably many others would appreciate it. Do you still have group discussion at phase 2? Regards Sky Wave |
CTC Selection
Guys
stage 2 is just PILAPT tests and 15 mins of maths fun. No introductions, that was saved for stage 3 for me. All selections are merged ATP and cadets. I have been through the lot very recently.:ok: high-flyer |
CTC Stage 2
Skywave
Can confirm that YYZ is right. Only wing cadets pay for stage 2. Presentation Lunch 15 q's 15mins. 1hr 1/2 computer based test. Its a good experience. Relax and enjoy the day. Good Luck MJB |
