I am invited for phase 2 on the 1st of december at Bournemouth. I am suppose to be there at 1300. And it cost nothing anyone else has experience with this?

Because on the website it says 176 pounds and the day schedule which are posted in various threads are different.

Just an update for all those champing at the bit for a sniff of the ATP program.

I decided to write an email to Lee Woodward (head of the ATP program) as I am about to pick a MCC provider. I have aimed my training so far to apply for the ATP program and was dismayed to see that it was closed for new applications a month before I could apply, shiny blue CAA licence in my hand.

I was just looking for an idea of when they were looking to open it again so I could conisder holding off going through another provider.

I'm now in a position where I could hold off without a definite idea, then go through the whole process or bite the bullet and try to attain anything from 100-500 hours on a JAR25 aircraft if I go via another alternative (my ability and proficency dependent) I have open to me. Obviously people reading this will have an idea of what this other route is and understand that there is quite a difference in outlay costs between the two.

Which leads me to another thread I've just started which hopes to maybe suggest an alternative means of getting that first job http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=254914

I'm sure to most people on here this is not news, but the following is the current company line as of the 4th of December 2006.

Dear Stephen

Thanks for your email. We're glad to see you are interested in our Wings ATP Programme.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the airline business it is always difficult to predict what our clients needs will be. However, we do hope to see some movement early next year although we cannot be specific as to when this will be yet. Please just keep an eye on our website www.ctcaviation.com where we will reopen our site for new applications at the appropriate time.

Regards

CTC wings cadet or CTC wings ATP ?

Hello,

I've read (fast) all the posts about CTC.
My aim is to entry the Wings Cadet programme, for people like me who have little experience.
Who has tried this route ?

As soon as I have the IR/CPL (FAA, I hope it's ok for Wings ATP entry...), I'll try the Wings ATP entry.
Same question : who tried this one ?

Anyone tried and passed CTC at 32/33 y.old and reached a flight deck ?

Thanks

LoLar (if post(s)s already exist(s) about this, please tell me).

CTC Wings ATP, closed to applications.

Just had a look at the CTC website, and noticed that the Wings ATP application process is closed, and indeed has been for some time to new applicants due to them having recieved enough applications for the time being.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, how many places on the wings ATP are ther actually available to wannabe pilots compared to the number of applicants, and does anyboby have any idea if they will be re-opening to applications any time soon, or will is their quite a backlog of people who have been accepted, but are yet to be placed with an airline?

Cheers, badboy.

akindofmagic 15th Dec 2006 20:09

I'm pretty sure that an FAA CPL/IR would not be accepted for ATP entry. If you look at CTC's website, you'll see that one of the minimum requirements for ATP entry is a JAA CPL/IR.
Regarding cadet entry, I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to recall that the maximum age for the scheme is around 30. Try reading the original thread more slowly. It should answer all your questions.

Just had an email saying all selection activity is on hold due operational needs. I have stage 3 next month so wonder how this will affect me?

Mintflavour 20th Dec 2006 15:16

I still havent got my head around how CTC ATP selection works in terms of numbers. Knowing the huge number of applicants, so much so new applicants are put on hold. So when I went to stage 2 in october I thought it would be a full house, and supprised to see that there were only 3 ATPers me included. During phase 3 there were only 2 of us, A friend of mine who went through the system 2 weeks before me said exactly the same scenario. We both got AQC dates for April and May, With the pool currently (according to the ATP Hold pool Thread) about 35 people in it, with only about 10 ATPs (not sure howmany cadets go through) completeing the AQC each month it is not as if they are piling loads of us through. And the talk of EZY requiring 450 pilots in the coming year (if they can sort out their training out) I don't see how this is going to meet the forcast demand.
But anyway good luck to you all

Mint

Mooneyboy 20th Dec 2006 18:23

I don't know if this was the norm but on the AQC I've just done there was only 4 ATP including me. There were also 6 Wings and 4 cypriot airlines guys. I a lot fewer ATP than I expected. Maybe they're staggering the number of ATP guys and gals entering each AQC. Really not sure. The holdpool was at 36 but I think 4 went back in due to delays at the 'orange one'. The stage 2 was about 75% Wings applicants with stage 3 70% Wings applicants.

All best,

Mooneyboy

Mintflavour

The 450 pilots you mention that easy require are not all coming from CTC. About 1/3 are coming from the Wings scheme - both ATP and Cadets. So about 150....there're aready 35odd in the pool with another 100 in the system/waiting for AQC without taking into consideration the Cadets. About 40/50 will be cadets.

Hope this clears things up.:ok:

Sky Wave 20th Dec 2006 21:19

450 pilots is Easyjets requirement. As far as I know CTC are looking to accommodate between 150 and 200 of that 450. Easyjet have their own internal recruitment process.

I believe there was also a rumour on pprune that Easyjet were taking some pilots from GECAT.

CTC wings ATP, couple of questions

Hi all, I know this question may be somewhat irrelevant at present as the CTC wings atp scheme is currently closed to applications, but heres hoping it will open up soon.

Do you need to have an MCC before applying, or does their Airline Qualification Course (AQC) substitute for an MCC?

Also, does anyone have any idea when the ATP scheme might be open again to applications? am coming up to the end of my training and would really love to give it a crack.

Cheers, Badboy

SD. 22nd Mar 2007 13:45

- AFAIK MCC is not required prior to the AQC.

From what I've heard, the online application will open up around June.

:ok:

badboy raggamuffin 22nd Mar 2007 16:54

SD, thats what I thought, however the website says that u need an FATPL , i thought that an MCC was a requirement for an FATPL. If you dont have an MCC u do not have a FATPL, just a CPL/IR, right?

June sounds good for me, how reliable is your information?

SD. 22nd Mar 2007 17:57

I'm pretty sure CTC ATP Wings only require JAA CPL ME/IR, drop them an email to clarify.

I emailed their support team a few weeks ago re: when they will re open :ok:

Troy McClure 6th Apr 2007 12:42

Weeks one and two of the AQC course count as an MCC. I know of a couple of people who've gone to the AQC without an MCC certificate. They were treated no differently than anyone else.

This is confirmed here:

http://www.ctcaviation.com/pdf/030201_pt_aqc.pdf

Already having an MCC makes no difference:

http://www.ctcaviation.com/wings/040304.html

Hope that clears everything up.

Troy.

badboy raggamuffin 6th Apr 2007 13:40

should I get a separate MCC then or not?

The fact that CTC do not require a wings atp applicant to have an MCC does therefore put the newly qualified pilot in a bit of a dilema. Assuming that the ATP scheme is open to applications when I finish my IR (June time), should I get an MCC straight after the IR, or should I wait to see if I get on to the CTC AQC course?

Getting a separate MCC could be a bad move, as if I get onto the AQC I will effectively do the same qualifaication twice, waste of money.

On the other hand, if I do not get one, and I fail in my ATP application (probably more than likely given its highly selective nature) I will have wasted valuable time when I could have been applying for other jobs, but couldnt cos I had no MCC.

Does anybody out there know what the likely time scale is from applying to CTC ATP to knowing whether u have been accepted? ie how quickly after application is the selection process carried out?

If it is only a short period ie only a few weeks, it is probably worth holding off getting an MCC until u know the outcome of your ATP application.

If however the process takes a long time, ie a few months, it might be worth getting an MCC anyway, and hedging your bets by trying to get other jobs elsewhere, so that the time between applying to CTC and learning ur fate is not wasted in the event of rejection.

Anybody else out there sympathise with my dilemma?
