Well, as they say, it aint over until the, eehr, horizontally tall lady sings. Got my call today, so don't count yourselves out just yet!!

Selhezad 9th Jul 2018 19:00

I got my call this afternoon, so don't lose your hopes just yet.
For those wondering about switching SIMs and so on: I had my mobile phone off, but I got both a voice mail and an email from them asking me to call them back.

They offered me the 26th of July, so bearing in mind the next stage (according to their website) is from the 16th to the 27th, I'm not sure if that means they only have the 26th and the 27th left to fill out (I didn't ask). However I had the feeling my interview was quite a bad one, not happy at all with it, and I had several crashes in the exercise about flying through the holes, so I honestly thought I was out of the competition. So I believe what might have happened is that I was in that "no email/no call" group some of you are talking about that they are using to fill out the gaps after offering it to the real successful candidates (in which case it doesn't matter they offered me the 26th or the 17th, it was just a gap they had?). Not complaining though of course, quite the opposite, I'm really happy about it and just grateful that I'm getting the chance to progress! But just to share some info about it.

(And following another discussion earlier on: I'm Spanish, not Irish).

voted ! no mail no call camp, this is killing me !!!

Interesting... Converging to 18% ones who got called.

That is very high. Does anyone have any clue to how many candidates were in total?

Kuyashi 9th Jul 2018 19:25

Just to remind people who are saying the next stage is in " ... a couple of days from now":

As per the Future Pilot Programme website:
" Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the assessment centre stage which will be held in Dublin between Monday 16th July 2018 to Friday 27th July 2018. "

That would obviously imply that not everyone will be notified at the same time or even be attending on the same day.
On the day, there will a member of staff from Cut-e and/or EI team, observing each candidate.
They hardly have the staff numbers to monitor a couple of hundred candidates at one time on one day.
With those points in mind, as well as the fact that we are looking at 6,000 + candidates this cycle, it seems apparent the group assessment stages will be staggered, possibly with further dates added.

If that's me you are quoting I was referring to the assessment centre which is taken in groups of about 20-30 per day

The number of people who got a call does seem quite high but it's worth noting that unsuccessful candidates might not bother checking this thread (and therefore voting) anymore.

Well, it is down to 14% by this morning and we still did not see many rejection pollers (and there were some 5-6 persons reported in here on the topic).

Anyhow.. this is also a way to pass time while we wait.

@Council Van,

I remember of at least one person from Italy reporting being called in.

I also recall someone from Germany was also successful a few years ago.

I doubt they would get ppl from Australia and US (all applied here) just to dismiss them later on because of geo or national. In the end, they want best fitted ppl for the company.

Even if they do have some internal motives - hey, it's their money... :)

Given the sample size of the survey is around 200 at the moment and applications were expected to be in the region of 6,000 I think we may be seeing that those most active in this forum are those still waiting for call/email.

On the money!

Yes.. we have sample grade of only 1/30th - I doubt it is enough to draw any serious conclusions. I would say that 30 people who got invited from this batch would give 900 from linear approximation and that is simply too much for 2nd stage. Any other comments?

Some one from a particular training organisation told me you name had to start with the right letter and you had to have a particular accent.

I wouldn't want to imaging our Irish friends are forgetting, as members of the EU, they can select the very best candidates from all of Europe.

Italian, British (Scotland, Northern Ireland (British/Irish depending on your view!), English), French and I believe German have all previously been selected. Of course a lot of Irish get it, it's an Irish airline and one many Irish people want to work for. In my opinion it's a fairly fair process and if you're good enough you'll be selected. If you're not you won't, just like a lot of Irish applicants who aren't selected in the end either.

Much agreed great applicants come from all over, I've worked with many switched on people from all over Europe and further afield.

Saying that however, Air France could be reminded of this when they put "Fluent French" as an entry requirement to their scheme, along with many other airlines in EU who run Cadet Pilot schemes. IMO this closes off some good applicants from across Europe and is a subtle way in accepting home applicants.

Bare in mind now that people that have already got rejected are probably not going to be watching this forum topic, putting pure misery to their lifes seeing other people get it! I know I wouldn’t be - but I’m among the no call no email crew also! Painful getting these Aer Lingus advert emails!

I 100% agree with this. Pilots and air traffic controllers are required by ICAO law to be able to speak English so I don’t see why it’s a requirement to be able to speak fluent French? Cabin announcements? I mean seriously...? That is a bit of a OTT requirement if I just say

Still no email nor call here..... I am starting to tempt fate now with thinking it’s a “No”

Please, what does the invite mail say about documents? Which ones should be presented at next stage?

Thanks
