Ryanair have been known to get back to candidates the next day just recently.
I did the tests 3 weeks ago, no reply... then again its my first rodeo there The signs of integrated recruitment is bad news for modulars, and in kura its like turning modular integrated. Enough money and you're in with this industry :( |
Norwegian short of pilots.
Norwegian urge a sus pilotos y TCPs a vender días libres para cubrir vuelos | Noticias de Aerolíneas, rss1 | Revista de turismo Preferente.com Its in Spanish, but sure google can help you. Apparently the company is requesting to the crews to "sell their off days" for even 3 times the usual price. When are the airlines going to understand they need to plan and get crews in advance? Vueling is having same problems... no one got ready for the new EASA FTL... |
Can't be that desperate yet :P My mates and I applied back in March/April and we still didn't hear back ^^
|
How do you guys plan on paying for the type?
|
With copious amounts of Vaseline, followed by obscene amounts of alcohol to forget the experience.
Jokes aside - Been out of training for a while, and have been able to save up some money! |

Same thing over here. :8 |
I'm still trying to pay off my previous loans and at the same time trying to save to finish my IR conversion and MCC. I've managed fund myself up until now, but it feels like going from one pool of quicksand to the next.
Has anyone been able to go to the bank and get a loan for the full amount of the TR without parents/spouses/siblings backing the loan in any way? |
If you have personal assets, you can probably secure a loan against those, provided they are valuable and liquid enough.
If not, you can still get a loan based on your future earnings; Will you be able to pay off your loan in a reasonable time? If you show up, and show them an employment contract, then that can be proof enough to secure a loan vs the type rating cost. However, this is all very personal and depends on the bank's policies and your own personal situation/finances. Can it happen? Sure, but it's never a guarantee and you'll need to sit down with a financial advisor and work out the possibilities. Do realise though, that you, as a 22 year old, have probably little assets. You also have very little future earning potential at the moment, and you're uneducated/only qualified to be a pilot. Banks know this is a competitive industry and are becoming increasingly wary of providing loans to us. You'll need to make a very solid case, like a written agreement or employment contract. Anything speculative will put a big red warning sign next to your application. I would advise you to keep working on the side, earn money, and get rid of your debt ASAP. Not sure why you're worrying about a TR when you're not even qualified yet (still no easa IR or MCC?). |
I'm finishing those off in a couple of months, so it will be an issue later this year when I start applying for jobs. My understanding has also been that the low-costs won't provide an employment contract until after the TR has been completed successfully.
Because I don't really have a safety net of wealthy parents to fall back on, I feel the need to start worrying about these things before they happen. I guess I will have to cross that bridge if/when I come to it. I have taken very good care of the loans and credit cards I've had so I hope to be able to get good a good reference from the bank in my home country. Thanks for taking the time to try and help! |
Any more news anyone?

When you say that you passed the online tests did you have an email after completing them informing you'd been successful? I took the online tests around that time and haven't heard anything back positive/negative. Thanks |
Sorry,
I should have said "completed the test"... actually I assume I passed... I didn't mean to be pretentious but I did passed the same test already with other airlines. What I mean, I dont have any feedback neither, nor positive or negative. Brgds |
Just FYI, I have both passed and failed these tests for various airlines - Not every airline is looking for the same score/combination/personality profile!

@Rostori
Ryanair have been known to get back to candidates the next day just recently. What do you mean by that?? After being called by Cae or directly after finishing training?? |
Search function - use it!
Also, wrong thread. |
Bond?
Any chance of a training bond for the type rating cost as a cadet?
|
if there was a training bond on offer, I am sure they would offer it.
Its take it or leave it. you self fund all incl anything else they ask for And still its all dependant if they call you! It will all be similar to Ryanair - if you do not fit in or struggle on training - its all training and you shall be out of a job and money...... Good luck |

At least they were kind enough to inform me I was not withheld? Oh, about that ... They never even posted my results for the online tests! |
