That would surely be the case with any company.

If (for example) I was moved onto a French contract, I would expect to be on the same terms and conditions as the French crew.....

PilotLZ 4th Jul 2020 16:36

It makes sense whenever it's been made clear that your relocation is of a long-term nature. But what about the scenario when you have only been shifted for the summer/for a couple of months? Do you have to sign a new contract for each relocation or do you receive any per diem on grounds of being out of your permanent base for a short period?

Pearlharbour 4th Jul 2020 16:43

Depending on the base. For example Tirana only can have fix local contract or maximum 90 days if you go out of base.
also until October people is in random roster so commuting is quite difficult if not impossible.

Recruitment is open again. Well ahead than expected.

Percula 9th Jul 2020 09:23

I've tried, it doesn't actually let you apply.

Banana Joe 9th Jul 2020 09:34

It's on LinkedIn, Training Manager's latest post. Totally new system to apply.

Do you know if the UPRT course is a requirement?

My experience a year ago was totally different. Serious, but did not feel this kind of pressure.

not if you’re an experienced, rated Pilot. It does explain that on the ATPL theory, MCC, JOC & UPRT questions.

I can’t get the flying hours form to load, it just hangs. Probably due to high demand this morning! 😱

I was applying to their Cadet programme at one of the schools back in 2018 and the interview with Wizz's HR was exactly like that.

PilotLZ 9th Jul 2020 12:43

Interesting. I didn't see this coming until Q4 2020. Best of luck to everyone who will give it a shot! The less unemployed among our brethren, the better for everyone.

Could someone kindly share the details of the Captain package for the Abu Dhabi base?

gtaflyer 9th Jul 2020 19:49

Flying widebody across the world and then being relegated to LCC operation narrow body, I bet the EK guys thought that would never happen !

Only for Wizz Abu Dhabi. It simply means that they can not find enough people (even amongst the ones recently fired) who would take the sand with such poor T&Cs.

Banana Joe 9th Jul 2020 20:27

Training is starting again from 27th July. For the European bases they want to create a holding pool.

And I'm not surprised they can't find anybody for Abu Dhabi with those conditions. You just can't have a decent life on that package.

edgarflyer 9th Jul 2020 21:31

What about the conditions? Are they so bad? I thought they would send their own (willing) crews over there.

Would any of the fired crew be reinstated?

So, out of 265 pilots who were fired, they couldn't find 70 or so to sign up? Given the dire situation in the industry in the countries where most of said pilots come from, that's quite unexpected. With most Eastern European airlines being financially infirm even in the best of times and at the brink of a mass collapse right now and with the many locals who lost their jobs in Asia in the past months coming back home, it's hard to believe that people would be turning down a flying job en masse. Or were they never offered to take it in the first place? Was the invitation for assessment for Abu Dhabi for all 265/265 or just for some of them?

booze 9th Jul 2020 23:43

Nothing new here guys, just nepotism at it's best: both DFO and Head of Training are ex-EK (hence the similar method of letting ppl go in both companies). They just wanna place their recently let go buddies. No one cares about the 265 pilots fired in April.

What is your theory then? Do they hire as they have the relatively small base (3-6 aircraft) already covered but they want to spend their time with a bit of fake hiring?
Or they think they can cherry-pick the best EK 380 captains? Not much of them will stay around for long once presented with the numbers.

PilotLZ 10th Jul 2020 07:26

My theory is that a relatively small number of those fired in April were hand-picked for assessment and the rest were not considered at all. Many of them were or are in major conflict with the management, some are known to be suing the company either on grounds of their dismissal or for other matters.
