Erm......
Sadly the market will be awash with type rated pilots ready to go at a minutes notice due to widespread downsizing and airline failures.
It will be supply and demand and, to be frank, the supply could far outweigh demand for quite some time.
I sincerely hope I am wrong about this for the many of you here.

rp001 14th Mar 2020 10:25

I hope you are wrong, but I think you are right...
We will just have to wait and hope that the spread of Wizz in Dubai will be so big that they will also need some cadets.
I noticed that they are using new application forms now

Rottweiler22 14th Mar 2020 11:58

I too hope for the sake of cadets that this is not the case. Everybody will need a bit of luck in the coming weeks. The virus is being done to death on a multitude of other threads. I have been through an airline going bust, so I know the pain of what may come to hundreds of pilots very soon. But, I think Wizz is one of the best chances that cadets will have.

Hi everyone!!! Any news about news recruitment in summer 2020. As I be hear they have freezed everything .
is it right. Want to apply for group in October or December 2020.
Thx

Scagrams 19th Mar 2020 11:10

Did you just wake up from a coma or come back from another planet?

dirk85 19th Mar 2020 12:25

Most of Wizzair crews have been put on unpaid leave until further notice.

Rottweiler22 19th Mar 2020 12:39

All training postponed. Even for those currently on type ratings, or those with contracts waiting to start. Practically the same as every other airline. Could be a while before recruitment starts again. Particularly for cadets, sadly.

Oh gaim 19th Mar 2020 12:45

Weird to see the various airlines still posting Jobs daily on LinkedIn

cant actually think of a worse time to drop your seniority number and join the back of someone else’s queue

Two A321s are wizzing (sorry for the pun) across the pond on rescue flights. One going LAX and the other to Orlando and Miami.

Before the pandemic, what were the best bases to maximise flight pay considering average km/month and landings?

dirk85 3rd Apr 2020 23:46

The difference between bases is neglectible money wise, they have multipliers to account for difference in cost of life.
Ask a base where you think you can have an half decent life.
Being based in Kutaisi or Tuzla does not give you the same qualify of life you would have in let's say Vienna or Riga.

BarryMG 4th Apr 2020 04:54

They have published (internally) pay conditions for Abu Dhabi yesterday BTW. As you can expect, nowhere near those of other gulf carriers...

Banana Joe 4th Apr 2020 06:02

Something has been posted in the Middle East Forum... Not an impressive offer indeed.

jadrolinija 4th Apr 2020 08:47

Depends if they offer commuting roster or not. Moneywise it's nothing close to other ME carriers, but if they can commute once per month to Europe, it will be maybe competitive as almost no ME airlines offer commuting (except Flynas, and Emirates 777 cargo...)

eiffel 4th Apr 2020 09:14

Salary for month ON / month OFF no?

But how do you live when you are in Abu Dhabi?
I think Vueling provided accommodation when some of their pilots went to fly for Flyadeal.

That salary is excellent for Eastern EU living costs, but I'm afraid it's nowhere close enough for Abu Dhabi.
20 on 10 off ala floating contract with accomodation provided would be an improvement.

Is it confirmed? With basic salary paid in the month off as well?

I totally agree. Maybe single pilot, or someone with no family can survive, maybe he can even manage to save some money... But if you have family, you can hardly live with that salary.

I am not sure if they offer month on/month off... I am definitely looking forward for more informations to see how things develop...

Banana Joe 5th Apr 2020 16:44

Concerning the pilots based in Austria, I understand their salary has a multiplier of 1.25 under the current system, but are they also getting 14 salaries? The 13th and 14th are called Urlaubsgeld and Weihnachtsgeld, and as required by the Austrian legislation, they are taxed at a much lower tax rate.

dirk85 5th Apr 2020 18:02

They are smart enough to propose an annual salary, split in 14 months. It’s Wizzair we are talking about.
Also no way you are getting Vienna as a direct entry, expect one of the least popular bases
