bases
Hello everybody!
Sorry if I ask a question that might already be answered, but I couldn't find any recent information. What are the bases most likely to be assigned as a non type rated dec? is there any significant salary difference between them? Thank You! |
Usually they always have spots available in Craiova, Chisinau and Kutaisi.
Bucharest, Iasi and Skopje were also available not long ago, don't know if they still are. Don't even think about London, Budapest, Vienna or Warsaw. |
Hi everyone! I am curious about scheduling at Wizz Air. Can anyone please post an example schedule of what a junior FO might expect? Thanks!

Hello everyone,
Does anyone have more information regarding commuting roster ? How does the schedule work, what are the salary benefits, how is the accommodation and so on... Thank you very much. |

Reverse roster - where you start and end your block of duties outside of your homebase (i.e. based in OTP, living in Bergamo), and you change seats with your colleague in your place of living (not base) for a fixed roster pattern. 2. Floating pilot contract (20on/10off pattern), where you don't have a homebase, instead you start and end at some 'entry' airport, and the company transports you anywhere they need in the network during your 20 days ON. 3. Fixed 14/7 roster pattern which is offered to make commuting easier 1 and 3 are not financially compensated, and you are responsible for your own accomodation at home base. In case of 2 the company provides hotel accomodation during your block of duties, plus some extra $. All of these options are only available for selected bases/airports. |

What do you mean by commuting roster? There are 3 thing that fit that name in Wizz:

So, you can pick what roster pattern fits you the most? Let's say you dont have any bases nearby or just preffer to be on floating contract then you just sing in to it without any seniority and so on?
|
Well... to be honest if I'd be to join Wizz I'd rather stick to floating contract with HOTAC and then 10 days of than to be a commuter or be forced to rent a flat near my base. But still thank you for throwing some light on that topic.

They do offer “floating contracts” with a 20-on-10-off roster, but unfortunately at this very moment all of these spaces are full. However, this is only available to experienced crew, and not to new pilots.

That is not true. I was offered that "floating contract" straight after the interview last summer. Same for a friend of mine who attended the interview a year before. So this "fantastic" offer is valid for new pilots as well.
I was there last week, and we were told the “floating contracts” were full and not available at the moment. And they were only available to experienced FOs. This is what we were told on an assessment day last week. |
Assessment
Hi guys,

How are the salaries in Skopje, Macedonia for first officer? Thanks.
Life in Skopje is quite nice, cheap, brand new furnished flat for 230 to 380€/month in centar. Haircut 2.5€, vegetable are good and cost nothing.Highly polluted some days during winter. Summer is nice. If interested 20on/10off roster available only in Skp. Very accessible base due many people leaving all the time due to high taxes and too low net salaries. Airport not so far away (25min) but to bring a car can be quite practical. Quite nice terminal with jetbridge for winter. Many destination from skp, but most of them to germany, sweden, so the route mostly always almost the same along the adriatic sea. (check the website) plus some W flight to and from other places. Sometimes very long duties but so far no overnight flight, you are at home every night. Skp can be quite a challenging airfield, interesting for newbies. Ambiance is good, colleagues very nice. Commuting not so easy but it depends where you live. |
Has anyone been called for selection recent?
I have applied for non type rated cadet in early december but I still did not get any reply? |

I have applied for non type rated cadet in early december but I still did not get any reply? By the way can someone explain me why Wizzair requires 300 total hours for Type rated cadet position? What is the point of that 300 total hours? NTR Cadet pilot requires only minimum hours of flying which depends on what program you did you training Modular or Integrated, however if you are type rated you must have 300 total hours which for me is strange. Maybe I dont understand something. Regards. |
Hi Augis,
the requirement of minimum 300 hrs for anybody who will be touching the controls might be related to aicraft insurance policy and/or leasing agreements. It's sad to see that Wizz is no longer accepting cadet pilots. Probably because of the situation in the market. The company it looks like a really attractive one to work for, though. |
Hi Hid3,
Thank you for your reply. Seems logical now for me. Still it looks like if you are new pilot without type rating it is easier to find job than for those who are also new but with type rating. Best of luck for you. Regards. |

Anytime one company stops operating some experienced pilot come to the marked and than we cadets do not stan a chance... I hope that this year te situation gets better |
Well. Please dont tell us stories about 'current market'. Wizz Air has their orders for hundreds of new aircrafts. And they went with a special job offer for all pilots from Air Italy. Yes - they are experienced (even if not type rated for airbus) but wizz still goes on their Wizz Air Pilot Academy so they are looking for those who are not experienced aswell.
