Hello guys, might be a silly question. But for those travelling to Dublin from abroad, are people booking the Hotel Carlton for their stay or somewhere else?

Travelling from Cork down south so booking into Carlton alright. Good to be nice and fresh for these things. Plus by staying there you wonít have to worry about the morning traffic😃

Just got my invite and was thinking the same thing. I think I will travel over from Scotland the day before and stay in the hotel. Will just make things easier.

Hi everyone, got invited today, honestly totally shocked, I have a finance background and thought I did very average in the online assessment. Although I did submit a cover letter through some 3rd party to try to explain the move from an office job to the cockpit lol, not sure if that ever reached them though as I then got a link to apply again with no option for cover letter

Hi everyone, sorry for those who got rejections, anyone know how gruelling the assessment centre is? Can't be worse than the Triwizard tournament lol

I'm the same. Surprised I got it as I have zero flying experience but I know I did well in the tests as I found them all pretty easy other than verbal reasoning which was just a joke with the time! Do you have flying experience / how do you plan on conveying your passion for flying??

It's honestly one of the more pleasant airline assesments I've been through. Very friendly atmosphere throughout

I have booked in for assessments on the 25th September. Anyone else booked then? If so please do get in touch. I was going to wait for the follow up email with extra information regarding assessments before booking flights and accomodation, but I think I might just go for it. If anyone is keen for a Whatsapp group chat, let me know!

I, too, work in finance currently and tried to make the jump to the cockpit. Unfortunately I think I was one of the very first to receive a rejection email lol heartbreaking but in hindsight, I can see where the majority of my errors were. Could have and should have done a lot better on the assessments although I have never been invited to interview for a job which required a personality workplace assessment thing. Good luck though!

Edit: I submitted a cover letter too but I really don't think it makes a difference. Might show you are keen to show your interests and that but otherwise I dont feel it will weigh too heavily on their decision.

I got my rejection email, a bit of feedback for all as I have found this thread useful throughout the wait and feel it only right to give back.

I thought I had a pretty strong CV, Iím 34, not sure if that went against me but the way I view it is the USA just raised mandatory retirement age for aircrew to 67 and I feel it is only a matter of time before Europe follows. That gives 30 good years of employment after qualifying provided you can still obtain a medical. I do already have a class 1 medical, both EASA and UK CAA. I also have a good degree in Mechanical Engineering and have been working as an Engineer (non aviation) for 12 years. I also have a PPL / Night Rating and about 80 hours total time. Currently studying towards ATPLís however have not sat any exams yet.

What let me down? In my opinion as no official feedback is given is the online testing. Like most I found the Verbal reasoning challenging, I do feel reading quickly is already a weakness of mine however the timer did seem very short for the number of questions. The other tests I think I probably performed average on. I took them while working away and not in the perfect environment which probably had an impact. Also it had been 10+ years since I had done psychometric testing; given the opportunity again I feel I could have done much better. I have since discovered online tools such as ďPilot AssessmentsĒ which allow us to practice, and by using this is how I have determined my performance as being average on the actual tests. I know I did make a few silly mistakes which I will learn from in the future.

For all of us who received the rejections donít give up, each time we will improve and will eventually achieve our goals.

Best of luck to everyone who made it to the Assessment Centre, I hope you all enjoy the day and perform your best, getting the invitation is an excellent achievement in itself irrespective of the final outcome.

I am booked for the 25th too. I have already booked flights and accommodation, I figured that waiting would just increase the price. See you there!

Does anyone from previous years have any idea what the assessment centre is like? Group exercise then interviews in the afternoon? Is it a panel interview or group interview? And do they require you to have much aviation knowledge?

Also invited to the assessment centre. Well done everybody so far and for those who didnít make it this year, this has to be probably one of the most competitive competitions going so keep your head up and try again next campaign!
