There is a Facebook group that's been up and running since the 2018 assesments called AerLingus Future Pilot Programme Applicants if anyone wants to join that as an alternative to a whatsapp group.

I have my booking confirmation for an assesment centre on the 2nd of October but still waiting for the follow up email like others here before I get flights and hotel sorted. I am intending to be in Dublin from the 1st if anyone else attending assesments fancies meeting up for a drink to ease the nerves.

Also sorry to hear about your assesment date being cancelled geryshayk. Hope they can get you rebooked - has anyone else had an email like this?

Hi Chloe Louise, Did you try to change the date by contacting Nobox also in the assessment confirmation email there is a link to cancel/reschedule.

That’s another good point, this is a seriously competitive process. It’s not fair to anyone to be asking them after their assessments what they’ve done. Anyone that has gone through it will not want to be giving anyone else an edge by being able to prepare more for it, so don’t ask what was involved.

Question for people through to assessment stage

Hey guys,

Congrats to those who got through to the assessments. I didnt make it through myself but I'm interested to know if any older applicants in their 30s or 40s got through if you don't mind sharing this and also what age you are?

I feel my age may have worked against me. I'm keen to know as i might persue my PPL for next years campaign to hopefully help with my application then but if in general only younger applicants got through I dont want to go to this expense and get my hopes up again,

Cheers.

I’m 33, have about 20 hours towards my PPL and have the theoretical exams passed. This is my 6th stab at it, have applied to every campaign since 2011. It may help to have some aviation experience, but I don’t think it is all down to that either.

Thanks so much for your response here. Would love to find out the average age of those who got through.

I think the smart decision may be to go ahead with getting started on my PPL and hope for the best.

I booked the assessment day for the 5th October.
I'm 35, PPL completed about a year ago, started ATPL exams. The PPL experience gave a good theoretical base for further studies and only confirmed my desire to become a pilot. Keep it up!

same here. 'Older' but have a PPL and didn't get through to assessments. My advice would be don't bank on this once in a lifetime golden ticket, especially if you're in your 30s like us. I'm going to do modular. If I get any of these cadetships then great, but I'm in no way waiting for them and neither should you

My son is in the middle of his college degree and he just did it with no prep work to see how he would get on and he got through to the next stage. I understand it’s a combo of the aptitude test and your CV. But with that volume of candidates you could be a perfect candidate and still fall at the first hurdle. Equally I know someone else who was well established in their career who got it a few years back. So I wouldn’t over think it.

I got invited to the assessments. I’m 38 and have a PPL with minimum hours in anticipation of this application. I don’t think age played a factor. Obviously the older you are the more you’d want show that you’ve achieved a lot in your current role so maybe make sure your cv is tailored towards that.

This is an interview, for what is, presumably, your dream job. Dress accordingly.
