Here is some feed back from the Ryanair assessment of the 14th of June 2022 @ Dublin.
We were 8 people, 3 from France, 3 from Italy and 2 from Spain.
I'll go straight to the HR / technical part and the sim as everything else is already explained in the briefing pack.
I dif my APS MCC at Sky4u in Berlin on B737-800NG and we all had specific questions about this aircraft (even those who didn't know the aircraft) so I strongly recommend you to read as much as possible about it.
HR questions :
- Tell me about yourself ?
- What do you know about RYR ?
- Why should we hire you ?
- How do you see you in the future ?
- Why would you be a good captain ?
- Did you apply to other airlines ?
Technical questions were :
- Show me on the cockpit poster : fuel panel, electrical panel, cargo panel, IRS panel.
- How much lights for the landing gear ?
- Can you land with 3 greens and 3 red ?
- What are the T/O flaps on B737 ? Why do you use flaps 5 or flaps 1 for T/O ?
- What are the LDG flaps ? Why do we use flaps 40 ?
- How many gates on the flaps lever ? Why ?
- How much fire dectector and where in the 737 ?
- How to change from true north to magnetic north ? And from magnetic north to compass north ?
- Crosswind calculation : 30°/10kts, how much Xwind ?
- Why do we say "gear down / flaps 15" and not the opposite ?
Some guys had questions about the coffin corner, stall recovery, difference between 737NG and Max, RTO.
Simulator PF :
- SID = BARN1T from Liverpool.
- Airwork :
- ILS RWY 27 in Liverpool.
Simulator PM :
- Where are you on the ILS map ?
- Which entry in the holding pattern ?
Hope this help.

- SID = BARN1T from Liverpool.
- Airwork :
- Start from S&L, 220kts @ 5000ft then full throttle up to 330kts. You have to keep 5000ft. Same thing but from 330kts to 220kts.
- Steep turn @ 45° BA
- Descening 1000ft keeping 220kts @ 800 fpm.
- ILS RWY 27 in Liverpool.

For the 2 references part, are prints of manual references enough or do they want the actual signature on the reference letter handed to them? My references are in another country. They have manually signed it and scanned me the copies.

7 months ryanair experience
After 7 months with Ryanair I’m here to share my experience. When you are accepted for the type rating program in Ryanair you will sign an AFA contract, there it will say that you will pay the 30k for the type rating and also that you will receive a fix salary of 1400€ + 14€ per scheduled block hour. That is a fixed contract lasting 6 months. You’ll receive the 1400€ if you fly or not. You will start getting the salary after base training.
Usually it takes way less than 6 months to finish the line training, therefore you’ll have to request a new contract after that because you will no longer be in training, if you are to afraid to ask they will keep you in that contract for the six months because it’s more advantageous for them(don’t forget that at the end of the day it’s a company). Speak up! Nobody will sack you for making normal requests.
when you sign the new contract the values will depend where you will be based on. Italian bases pay the best uk/Irish bases pay well but the cost of living is far greater. Nowadays is quite common to second officers to receive the contractor deal, which is good if you fly is awful if you don’t fly, because if you fly 0 hours you get zero € if you fly a lot you will get a lot, up 2500/2700 net. If you get a job contract salaries are lower but you will have more security.
Right now a lot of junior captains and senior FOs are leaving which creates a lot of demand. If you join now you will fly a lot because the summer is really busy, if it will continue to be like this after the summer is anyone’s guess. Be prepared to to get a low/zero salary during the winter ( depending on the economic recession/ covid etc)
after 500h with the company you will get a decent pay rise.
training wise I was positively surprised, they said it is the best training in the world and I laughed but now after being there I understood why the say it and it’s true, the training there is top quality. Nice instructors and procedures.
I hope this testimony helps you make a conscious decision.
