Anybody in the flight training phase of the CTC course? What equipment is NOT provided that you absolutely need? I see from the blurb that an iPad is required but nothing else is mentioned. The cadets in the photos are all wearing different headsets - do you have to provide those yourself? Anything else? I have a young relative starting next month and want to give a present but need it to be useful............

@flyingfemme,
If they're starting Ground School then most things are provided at that point. Perhaps with the exception of one item of stationary which you could use with the CRP-5 flight computer. Which are 0.4mm fine point pens, such as those made by Stabilo. For revision purposes one of those small whiteboards which you can pickup in TESCO or many stationary stores and a set of pens may come in handy for jotting quick calculations etc on! See here:
For the flying stage, perhaps a pair of non-polarised sun glasses or at least some money towards them may make a nice gift. Headsets etc are typically provided too.

flyingfemme. Headsets are provided (or were when I went through) however I can't recommend getting a decent headset highly enough. I have a Bose a20, which is pricy but awesome, and if your relative goes to EJ they'll be able to use it on the line, so it will keep on giving. I use mine every day, and love it!

Hi all,
Managed to get through the technical assessment earlier this week - although I've already been informed I'm not eligible for Route 1 or 2
In the mail they mentioned that there will be "some online assessments" before the interview. Anyone know what these assessments are? CTC don't seem like they know and there's no other info in the mail.
Thanks!

It's just a personality assessment (I think EZY calls it a "shapes test" in the email). Don't stress over it, just answer honestly, otherwise they'll see right through you in the interview.

Hi there!
I'm route 2 with CTC and the requirements to be upgraded haven't been disclosed by easyJet yet, so not many people know. However, I am told that the top performers on each course will be upgraded - how many I do not know.
But unless you're really aching for an MPL license, route 2 is nothing to be worried about! I've already signed a contract with easyJet stating 'upon successful completion of flight training with an MPL or ATPL License, by signing this contract you are required to accept an offer of employment by easyJet upon graduation'.
That ties you to easyJet from day 1. So again, the only difference is the license, all routes have the good stuff at the end.
Hope that helps

Thank you very much for that info on how the route 2 contract is worded, it's something I've been wondering for a long time.
Can anyone confirm or deny whether the same wording is used in the route 1 contract?

Route 2 is £25K more expensive and and slightly longer.
This is because of the £87 (ATPL) and £38K type rating. MPL introduces the SOPs at the early stages. ATPL is your typical CPL/IR - Old school. Definitely would take MPL if I get the chance

Route 3 is essentially identical to the Whitetail with the exception of conditional offer of employment on completion of training to the airline standards. The Type Rating is then in addition to the course fee.

I'm not that closely linked to the selection side of things to really know the answer to how many will be sourced through CTC specifically given that the scheme is running over many FTOs. However, easyJet's current growth requires circa 850 pilots by the end of 2018.
As for of Brexit, this is something I'm following incredibly closely and as far as easyJet as a company is concerned they're effectively safeguarding themselves from this by splitting their UK business in to two. This would essentially mean another entity of the likes of easyJet Swiss whereby easyJet will register some of its' fleet and thus crew under the newly registered AOC. Which country this will be registered in remains to be seen, yet easyJet's Corporate press materials indicate they are now in the final stages of registration. It's worth noting that only 30% of easyJet's network of flights would be directly affected by Brexit and they are those which aren't covered within ICAO's freedoms of the air as a result of their intra-EU nature (i.e. Malpensa to Paris). With that said, whilst that safeguards the hulls themselves, it'll be down to the eventual Brexit discussions to establish which crew can operate them.
I wouldn't worry about something you can't control. Given easyJet's current actions towards Brexit it seems they've got their heads switched on with it. Who knows, it may just mean the Brits are kept in the UK bases and non-Brits moved to the rest of the network. But I don't think they're going to go anywhere anytime soon.

@Millasaurus,
Apologies if I wasn't clear with that post. What I meant is, the condition can only ever really be met on completion of training as you'd need to be at the right standard throughout. I said it as some people in my CP have only just received theirs on the tail end of ground school.
All the best with your training Millasaurus and good luck to those still waiting.

Actually the conditional offer of employment is signed against before training commences, I am on Route 3 due to start soon, and signed it a couple of weeks ago. As HEJT2015 stated a few posts back, it is only valid if training is completed to a certain standard, but ties you in from Day 1.

Hey guys. Heading down to Dibden on the 9th of March for the EZY Stage 3. All you guys still waiting for dates from CTC - keep with it. Took me around 4 months of checking 3/4 times a day after my successful Stage 2.
Apologies if it's already been referred to, but does anyone who's done a Stage 3 with EZY/CTC have any (more detailed) info as to what it will entail
