How to avoid monkey business?

I got this email today

An A320 operator base in Asia ( National Airline ) would like to invite suitable candidates for the position of A320 First Officer.
You will be provided with a 3 year job guaranteed contract subject to you passing the selection process.

Training :

• Company will provide you with base/endorsement flight training
• Company will provide line training
• During the first 300 hours of training, there will be no salary

What???? No salary??? if all of you care about your future and your career spread the word not to apply to these monkeys.

It says that you will not receive salary for the first 300hours. After that and for the rest of your 3 years contract you get a 3500USD/month. I wouldn't apply to a company that provides that contract but lets be accurate.

Its a kind of p2f , but after some time you actually get your money (or some of your money) back

Does the airline provide the TR or are you required to have one already?

Sounds bogus to me, Asia is pretty much a closed shop for non experienced FO's.

Even in the notably corrupt countries like Indo and Thailand, the local CAA have now got rules in place banning the recognition of foreign licences without several hundred hours on type.

I'm trying to think of a single country with a "national airline" that operates A320s, that doesn't have such a rule in place, and I can't think of one.

Do you want to name the operator / P2F merchant, or are you going to make us play the guessing game?

I have no idea because i didn't and i will not apply for them .

Except India , there are many operators in Asia that accept NTR and or low hour expat First Officers but anyway it sure looks strange . I think its a p2f with a lil better terms.

Go ahead and list them then, because as far as I'm aware there's precisely zero, that's my entire point. Hence why I said it sounds like a scam ...

Hm...just out of my head

Hong kong , hong kong express , air macau , scoot ( second officers for the 777) , Cathey for advanced entry second officers , Suzi air for their Caravans , Air Fast Indonesia recruited low hours expats second officers , Lion Air ( ok , they are p2f , but still no Civil aviation authority restriction ) Wings Air (p2f i know) , Mas wings a couple years ago if i am not mistaken , Air Phil express NTR first officers 1-2 years ago, aero cambodia (floatplanes) .

There are companies in Thailand , for example Thai that accept only Thai nationals but not because of any civil aviation law. The only country that you cannot convert your license is India. In some other countries you may have to log more hours than the locals. Please , do correct me if i am wrong.

By the way i recently heard that Nepal Airlines (Royal) have one 320 but no crew to fly it so maybe its them...

@Propdude
Nepal airlines recently advertised FO position(requirements only A320 rated and no hours on type accepted but you require ATPL).Scoot second officer position was only for locals holding CAAS licenses.
Could you confirm is it still possible for low hour expats to get FO position in thailand? Not with the national carriers but some of the low cost ones?Does it help to visit them in person?

Wrong, HK and HKE don't take zero hours, only hours on type, Air Macau take zero hours but you must have high total time and have experience in pax operation, Scoot local only, Cathay want HKID holders, Lion Air and Indo is a closed shop for foreigner because of the 250 hour rule.

Hey dudes and thank you for all the corrections.... i never talked for 0 hours pilots (cadets). Just low hours NTR FO and yes Cathey takes NTR low hours First Officers, i know because i have applied. Also just a few months ago HK and HK express requested NTR with 1000 hours. I also remember a scoot post that just required frozen ATPL , but anyway maybe i am wrong:

Be Different & Join Us - Job Details - Second Officer - Based in Singapore

in this one just requires the fozen ATPL. anyway...
Yes Lion closed shop for the moment...
pilot4eva , i am not an expert , but i think the worst think you can do is to walk in to an airline and ask for work. Best to follow the proper channels. Good luck!!

Dear A320 Pilots,

Lao Airline, the national airline of Laos would like to invite suitable candidates for the position of A320 First Officer.

You will be based in Vientiane, Laos. Laos is one of the vibrant and fastest developing countries in Asia.

You will fly both domestic and international destinations around the asia region.

Should you pass the interview and sim check, and after clearing 300 hours, you will be offered a 3 year job contract giving you the
opportunity to earn in excess of USD 126,000 ( 3 year period - 3500 monthly x 36 months ) plus the chance to gain thousands of valuable hours on type

Employment Benefits : -

Salary of USD 3500 tax free ( There will be salary increment for each year of service subject to performance )
Min 50 hours per month
Medical Insurance
Uniform will be provided
Hotel and transport will be provided during nightstop at both domestic and international destination

This is an excellent opportunity for you to start your flying career and gain experience and hours on the Airbus A320. With a limitation of
900 hours per year, you have the chance to gain up to 2,700 hours on type.

With that kind of experience, the world is your oyster and especially so considering Emirates has just lowered their minimum requirements at 2000 airbus hours
for direct entry A330 FO and 2500 hours for A380 FO.

It is extremely rare to have an airline offering jobs to foreign candidates with zero or low hour hours on type as most airline will reserve it
for their own local citizens or requiring 1500 total hours with 500 hours on type as the minimum requirement.

Most opportunity for foreign pilot cost Euro 75,000 to 87,500 for a 500/1000 hours line training program with no salary and no job contract after that.

Should you wish to view the minimum requirements, please click here . Do note that the airline need your A320 type rating to be current upon
joining them. If your Airbus 320 rating is expired, you need to get it current at your own cost.

Price

The price for this opportunity is USD 59,000. There will be two payment schedule : -

1) USD 29,000 upon passing the interview and sim check and accepting/signing the Letter of Offer

2) USD 30,000 one week before reporting for duty in Vientiane.

Lao Airline will provide you with base/endorsement flight.

You will then start your line training and once you clear line check, you will be promoted to be a regular A320 First Officer.

The airline will also provide you with all the necessary work permit and visa for you to fly legally in Laos.

Do note that during the first 300 hours of flight training, there will be no salary.

Interview

Interview will be via skype with the management of Lao Airline. If you are successful in your interview, you will be
invited to Bangkok for a simulator check. Flight and Hotel to Bangkok will be at your own cost.

Interview for this position will be within the next few weeks. Priority will be given to candidates that are able to join in short notice.

How to apply

With thousands of application worldwide, It is impossible to invite everyone for the assessment since there are only limited slots available.
Should you be interested in this opportunity, you are required to pay a booking fee of USD 200 .

The USD 200 booking fee is to make sure that we have serious candidate in which in this case will be deducted from
the course fee if you pass. In the past we have candidates who shows interest but never turn up for an interview.

If you pass the skype interview, you will then proceed to sim check and are required to pay USD 600 for sim the assessment.

It is on a first come first serve basis for shortlisted candidates who pay the booking fee and once we are fully book, this offer will be closed!

Payment is via credit card ( fastest way to secure your slots ) or bank transfer.

To book your slots, please reply to this email indicating your payment method and I will send you the credit card payment link and bank details.

Note that if you pass the interview/sim check and accepting the job offer, the USD 200 booking fee will be deducted from the course fee.

Should I go for this?
Best you read my advise at Fly Gosh: Have an interview coming up,should I go?

Why should I pay since the world owe me a living and I should get everything free for life?
We spend a lot of time and resources to get this opportunity to help you kick start your career in the airlines. If you have this mindset, I guess is best we do not waste each others time so we can focus on candidates who are serious in their career . A lot of potential pilots took the risk to pay for flight ticket and hotel to come to Asia, knock on doors to try their luck and most end up going back empty handed. Imagine the amount of money we save you guys with this opportunity.

We look forward to hearing from you and happy to give you an excellent opportunity to start your pilot career.

Thank You.

Regards,
Andy

how the hell can this guy do this and sleep at night ... he says he is there to help pilots get the first job yet his so called secrets to success costs money ... this guy clearly gives nothing for free and i hope he one day chokes on the money he takes from people via his unscrupulous ways...

Where is the sector pay in that offer and duty pay etc... i guess that goes into his pocket.

this Andy Yeap is clearly a con man with no regrets how he messes up others

would he be willing to accept payment when the line training starts... he quotes he want 200 usd to show a sign of serious applicants ... does that mean he will foot the 59000 usd upfront to the airline minus his 80% commission i guess to show his serious credentials as a line training organiser.... think not !!!!

On no account send money to someone in Asia (or anywhere) on the strength of the promise of a job. I've just met a bright young hopeful who went out from Spain. He was never told no, just subjected to ever-increasing messing about until he had to leave.
